Fun fact the reason midge was considered problematic was because, parents thought she was a single teen mom. In reality she was an adult married to Allen.

The two silent sins off for "You're so beautiful" are proof he has a heart.

The “you’re so beautiful” scene always gets me because it’s the first time Barbie has seen an old person and this is her reaction. 🥺 this movie man

I'm surprised you didn't sin that Barbie was able to walk about to a group of teens at high school and not immediately get asked to leave by a staff member.

The "You're so beautiful" makes me tear up every time and it's so nice to see CinemaSins appreciate it too. No jokes, no commentary, just a sin off for both lines

I love that Sasha and her friends were designed after the Bratz dolls, AKA Barbie's biggest competitors. One pal is apparently called Jade, and Sasha is nicknamed Bunny Boo, just like her animated counterpart.

That delivery of the line of Barbie looking at the old lady and saying “you’re so beautiful” even while watching a cinema sin was enough to tear me up like that shit is so powerful 😭

I honestly feel Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken are some of the best casting choices ever made this year!

I still gotta say, when Ken puts on the second set of sunglasses, I lost it in the theater. I was rolling in my seat. It was that kind of joke you'd get out of old-school Simpsons or something. Just fantastic.

My one criticism, which he pointed out, is how unrealistic the mattel company is. If you establish that it is the real world, you can’t have the mother and daughter act normal and real but have the mattel people be so ridiculous

He better take a sin off for the Kens dance scene

My only disagreement to this is the “I’m not pretty anymore” cry. As a woman, I swear I’m not superficial, but almost always the first line to my breakdowns are “I’m not pretty” before it descends into the real problems and I feel that being her opening was the perfect line that almost broke me

I'm so glad they included the "you're beautiful" scene. It was so heartwarming

When my little sister (10 y.o) heard about depressed Barbie in cinema, she turned to me and said “we have to get this one for you” lmao

Even with all the sins, no one can deny that she was indeed a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world.

I’m a little sad that the “Hi Barbie” sequence at the end didn’t have an “Oh hi Mark”.

One thing tho, Barbie saying "I'm not pretty anymore" as her first line from her existential crisis is completely valid. I'm pretty sure other people can relate as well but just from that one line, I completely understood exactly how she was feeling. As a character that's most commonly known for that "picture perfect BARBIE doll appearance, " there's now this expectation that's created that not just other people but Barbie has of herself, which eventually becomes a measure that determines and validates her worth and value. The line isn't meant to be taken literally, but as a way to express how Barbie feels. Her mind's probably all jumbled with a blur of different emotions that she feels so overwhelmed that it's numbing. There's so much going on in her head but she can't formulate any words or doesn't even know what to say that can even closely describe the true gravity of her current state. Therefore, the only thing she can think of to say is "I'm not pretty anymore, " which can also implicate or be interpreted as a way of Barbie confessing that she doesn't feel good enough and doesn't understand or see her own value.

The two biggest sins that stood out to me: Barbie should be sleeping perfectly rigid with her arms down rather than bent near her head like a human child, and Ken shouldn't have nipples.

The one sort of plothole or inconsistency for me was,
The explanation for how the Kens took over so easily was that the Barbies had never experienced patriarchy before, therefore they were powerless against it.

But when Barbie and Ken went into the real world, she was Immediately scared and uncomfortable and had all her defences up.

Idk
