Hi everyone! I've made an updated tutorial for this for 2024. Check it out!

2:22 Heads up to anyone new like me: you have to click on a button on the dashboard of Vortex to open up a tab where you can search for a game- Search for Skyrim VR and it opens you up to the same screen he is on in this step.

Came here from another older vortex tutorial meant for the standard Skyrim SE where this guy is trying to mess around with the desktop file storage location while claiming the video is for "absolute beginners". Your guide has cleansed me of that frustration and I appreciate your good vibes!

Everything works awesome thank you so much for the tutorial, I did run into the small problem of steam VR not wanting to start at the same time as Skyrim, but I guess I should’ve known!

Exellent starter guide. I'll keep this bookmarked for when I get around to starting a Skyrim VR playthrough.

I played modded skyrim vr in the past and it was a buggy mess, this time round I looked up tutorials and actually followed the installation guides in the mod descriptions, and it worked a charm, currently enjoying an amazing skyrim experience free from bugs

Thanks for the video, just got into VR having only played Half-life so far . I have used nexus in the past but your video got me set up without a problem in like 10 minutes, It’s really weird being inside Skyrim ( bought on sale, not way I’m paying £50 lol ) it’s kinda crazy and seeing it from that perspective is even more cool 😊 . It’s age is showing graphically, so will see what’s available to make it look a little more sweet 😮

Be careful with the lighting overhaul. It's not meant for vr. VR is dark enough by default and this will make it where you can't see. i dont really think it was meant to be a visual overhaul, but a role-playing or screen shot thing. It's also hard to uninstall since you have to make sure no light sources are around when you make a new save. The mod creator doesn't like the default fog, which to me is beautiful, so it causes weird effects with the fog as well, so I'm gonna have to recommend not using it in vr.

The idea that mods "fix" a game is a bad one. It's for role-playing and customization purposes. Many mods "break" the main game. The unofficial patch breaks the core game at times like not being able to purchase a home. They patch it so they can extend the game. JK's Skyrim is just for show as it also breaks parts of the game, including the intro. They aren't really playing the game anymore when they get into this kind of heavy customizing.
