I also read Red Queen this month, and gave it 4 stars. I agree that it had a lot of familiar themes in it and kind of felt like a mashup of other popular YA worlds, but that just made it easier for me to get into. I read it right after Outlander, which I loved but was a read for me, so it was perfect timing! I needed something easy and quick. My favorite read of the month was A Game of Thrones! I finally picked it up and LOOOOVEEDDDD IT!

My favorite book this month was definitely The Alloy of Law. I loved the Western feel of it and the new twinborn abilities. Wax and Wayne are hilarious. I can't wait for the next one because I want to know who Ironeyes is!!

The Enchanted was hauntingly beautiful. It's a hard book to describe so I commend you for doing such a good job at explaining :p

My fAvorite book this month was Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Can't believe how long it sat on my tbr pile! Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!

I have always wanted to read The Enchanted!  I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much.  I suppose I'll be adding that to my next book order!

I've heard a lot of cool things about The Enchanted; I might have to pick it up sometime. I'd never heard of Rat Queens, but it sounds epic!

my favorite books? THE ARCANA CHRONICLES!!!
i know you read poison princess and didn't love it, but i would HIGHLY recommend continuing on. endless knight gets so much better with so much character growth, and death of winter was a bit slower, but still had a lot of twists and growth as well. plus the world building gets more extensive

I also read Rat Queens this month! I pretty much agree with you that it was tons of fun and I'm definitely looking forward to volume 2.

I read Red Queen and... meh. I felt the way you did and then didn't even like the main character. I didn't think her decisions were all that logical and that she sure did trust lots of people she just met, mostly because they were cute princes and stuff. The whole thing happens across a month? Maybe slightly longer and it's just like, get ahold of your emotions, girl. 

A friend of mine went to a book signing for Aveyard and I was 0% surprised to learn that she actually writes screenplays primarily and then thought, "I can also write a YA novel." That pretty much exactly describes her book to me. She took a basic knowledge of "this is YA" and paired it with above average action scenes, right out of a screenplay say, and  : Red Queen. 

I LOVED The Enchanted. It was one of my favorite reads of last year. It really is a rich experience that probably isn't for everyone because of the magical realism and because of the strangely omniscient narrator, who shouldn't be. It worked so well for me, though, and gave me feelings and thoughts and more feelings. I'm so happy you liked it! 

The last two have been on my TBR forever. ONE DAY.

PARKS AND REC XD My favourite book this month was actually four books and it was the Mistborn trilogy + The Alloy of Law, which I read partially because of how much you love them. They blew my mind.
