The River City Round-up had its 23rd annual Chili cook off this year with a massive set up on churchill square. The event kicks off the Farmfair International event and the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

I was able to try the melt in your mouth buttered herb beef brisket chili from Zinc, Wildflower's delectable Wild Game chili with duck fat bacon biscuit, Fairmont Hotel MacDonald's sophisticated spicy bison, pumpkin black bean chili with pancetta cornbread, the Lux's meaty angus steak goodness. They were all scrumptious, but my favourite was surprisingly not from a restaurant. It was the people's choice of the creamy and well-engineered bison chili from Manasc Isaac Architects.

What a great way to start the harvest season.
