"Our paladin used Smite on that chomo."

I say us dungeons and dragons players ought to unite and purge this disease from our ranks so we can just enjoy our game without these vile creatures preying upon our children, friends or others

I bet more adults play D&D than kids at this point.

I was a Florida corrections officer for three and a half years, we had guys(inmates) that played Dungeons and Dragons and they have their own homemade Magic the Gathering cards they would make out of cardboard and write-on.

First time I went to jail I started running a DnD campaign, in was 21 or 22 at the time. And I realized most of the guys didn't really care about the game. What they cared about were the stories I told. So eventually I nixed the game entirely, and I had inmate story time. Essentially, I just started telling fantasy stories to other dudes in there. I only ever charged a dollar to folks to sit and listen while I spun a yarn for hours on end. And even the CO's got in on it from time to time. And that was my hustle from then on whenever I got locked up.

Can't even watch SpongeBob without being labeled a chomo...

I think this sucks so much because as one of those "kids" (16) who loves playing D&D, there is so much it can do for people. The sheer number of friendships and good times that's been made from the games I'm in for everyone involved is incredible. Having those games, and getting that human interaction and connection has gotten me through some rough ass times y'all. I just want the record to stand that the people I know who play and love this game are some of the best people I've ever met, and you should never let these fucking chomos to deter you from this amazing pastime. One love y'all.

I know of a funny skit for that -

Five guys sitting at a table, four paying attention to the fifth.

DM: Alright - The King has hired you guys to -

CO (Passing by): What you got there?

DM (Embarrassed): Oh, playing D&D.

CO: Let me see the sheets.

Players: (Reluctantly pass them over.)

CO: You got a Devotion Paladin, Hunter Ranger, Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer, and an Evocation Wizard.

Players nod.

DM: That's what we got so far.

CO (Serious look upon their face): In that case, I need to ask you one question.

DM (Nervous): What's that?

CO: Do you got room for an Arcane Trickster Rogue? My last group quit on me - I've been looking for three months to find another!

As someone who has purchased all of the 5th edition books currently available, and enough dice to equip plenty of tables by myself, I've read up on some of the history of the game, including the part where some prisons have banned it for one reason or another.

Well, part of me was like, "What if a CO decided to sit with the group to make sure that no one was planning any actual trouble, and perhaps rolled the dice themselves?"

In Germany they don't put extra time on you for trying to escape or escaping prison you just have to finish your sentence

Honestly I'd consider getting an account to run a game on Discord just to see you play dude your energy at the table could lead to hilarious shenanigans

I thought I read that the reason it's technically not allowed, is because in Oklahoma or something, someone got pissed that they got kicked out of the game, and then falsely reported that the group playing D&D was a forming gang and plotting criminal activity, and using D&D as a cover for it and their meetings or something like that, so they outlawed it. No idea if it's true or not

Out of all the YouTubers i watch, and I watch a lot of d&d YouTubers, I never expected to see you talking about it, and I never knew I needed something this much.

It was a long hard day at work, I feel like hammered shit, but hearing about d&d in prison has somehow cheered me up a lot more than it should have

I love DnD! I'd totally DM a game for some chomos, but I have a few house rules. We don't roll for stats at character creation. Instead I pick a spot on your body and inmates take turns hitting you there as hard as they can. However many hits you take before you start crying is what that stats score is. Then we pick a new body part and repeat. I run a pretty tough game so their character may die fast but now worries we can just make a new one for next game. lol

I think we've all known how absolutely broken the U.S. prison system is, and why it rarely actually works. But you, wether you realize ut or not, are doing a great job raising awareness to how just absolutely broken the system is. Keep it going, and hopefully some change will come.

That's crazy 😂, I grew up playing D&D my dad was a dungeon master, he played while on his yearly deployments on the ships. This I was born and grew up around it. But it's not the same anymore with all this technology

Surprisingly it makes a lot more sense then I initially thought

That's unfortunate because you're in a dungeon so it would make for the best environment😅
