Another tip is to cut the container when you think you are finished with the tube- it is always astonishing to me how much product is still in there- a good week or so more 🙂

Another tip: write the “expiration date” on your products (i use a sharpie and usually write on the bottom or the cap). I.e. not the EXP date on the box, but that tiny container icon that often says 12M or 6M and so on, which means you have to use up the product within N months upon opening. Before I did that, my stuff could easily clutter my shelf for the next 3+ yrs and I sometimes still grab them thinking it’s still fine to use (w/c at times is ok because preservatives, but better safe than irritated).

I’ve also cut out morning moisturizer and just use sunscreen now. It’s faster and less heavy on my oily skin too!

This would reduce waste and overconsumption for the sake of our planet and ourselves. Thanks a lot, Doc🌺

THANK YOU!!! My lifestyle is going to have to change. Everything is way more expensive, and I just can't justify the way I've been spending on skincare over the years. Sad but true

I love using face serums and face lotions on my body if they’re too irritating on my face! Glad to know it’s ok haha. It’s such a great reminder to use body products on the face too - especially when facial products are soooo small.

Since I’ve watched you, I pretty much abandoned the expensive “clean” skincare I was buying. I’ve gone back to basics and use Vanicream for face and body. I use Olay Regenerist retinol cream that i buy from Costco in a two pack. I use the regimen vitamin x in the morning and of course spf. I don’t buy anything new until I’m pretty much done with something which has helped with clutter, overspending, and waste

I’ve been using 100% mineral oil to remove sunscreen, skipping washing my face in the morning, and I use a so called “all purpose” cleaner, I suppose, to use to my entire body and not just my face. I’ve also been using plain petroleum jelly instead of any more expensive ointments. Thanks for the tips DrDray!

"Less is more!" - love it, something I always forget when applying my products, thank you!

I’ve really reduced the amount of makeup products I buy these past 3 years. The only skincare item I spend more significantly on is sunscreen! I also have bought more “value” size cleansers for my face and don’t buy anymore until I’ve used them up. This video is great! Thank you so much

Yes, I am also convinced that sometimes the same product is sold as both a face version and a body version, but for different prices! I found that my favorite face moisturizer brand also makes body lotion, so I figured I’d probably like that product too….Turns out they have identical ingredients (they’re ordered slightly differently near the bottom of the list), perform the same, but the “face” product comes out to $11 per ounce, and the “body” product is $2 per ounce!!!!

True, some of the products are expensive.
I’m cutting down on products now that I know what works for me, and definitely less products. I tend to pile it on.

#7 all day!! I’ve been wearing it nearly every day for 30 years and now that I’m in my 40’s I’m seeing the results of it. I have a cousin the same age (we also look like we could be sisters) and I have much better skin. I asked my derm and she said my cousin would not be able to bring her skin condition close to mine with skincare alone and it would take thousands of dollars in procedures. So save your future self time and money and wear sunscreen!! I’m a total skincare junkie, so tretinoin, vitamin C, and niacinamide, etc have helped too but it’s largely down to sunscreen.

I'm so happy for tip #8. I've been frustrated by so many creators saying this or that is bad, and I've used those things for years and they are great for me. It's a great reminder that every single one of us is unique, and we should decide for ourselves what works.

Love all of the tips! I use the lotion I don’t like as shaving cream. I use the sunscreen that’s too greasy for my face on my neck and ears.

Non pro tip: tretinoin works well even if it's less than a pea sized amount. I can only tolerate half a pea-sized amount diluted with half a teaspoon of moisturizer once every five days. Six months in, It has still completely changed the texture and appearance of my skin for the better. Probably took longer to get here than if I had used as prescribed, but I'm in no rush. I use a timer app to keep track.

I’m no longer purchasing pump bottles of facial cleansers. They aren’t on my face long enough to impart any substantial benefits and a plain Dove beauty bar for sensitive skin does a better job of cleansing without stripping or irritating my skin. I’m saving money, and using less plastic is better for the environment.
