Making friends is a pain as an adult so I totally get it

Making true long lasting friends as an adult is painfully hard for a lot of folks. Most adult friendships are superficial a based around short term commonalities like work, or kids. As soon as the job changes or the kids quit soccer, the friendships are gone. These services make so much sense its had to think they didn't exist before. People might currently think its weird to make and meet a friend online but that will change.

I messaged a dude on BFF because he mentioned that he missed playing games with his friends. I'm working out of town, and I used to play video games/board games with the boys, so I figured I'd give it a shot.
Didn't go over well. He immediately thought I was trying to hit on him. That was the first and last time I messaged another dude lol

the problem ive always had with making friends on those kind of things is that all of the guys are never straight, and they ultimately end up wanting more than friends

I have made several friends from the dating apps. Meet for coffee, figure our chemistry wasn't there for a romantic relationship but we opted to keep in touch and socialize. I guess I have made 4 or 5 friends that way.
That said, dating apps are a dumpster fire.

Why does everyone see this as weird but don't view dating apps the same way. 😄
All the arguments I see against this could be applied to dating apps as well. 🤷
Idk... Maybe I'm the weird one. 😆

I despise dating apps, but for finding friendship, it could work. Though I believe going out, DOING THINGS, and making friends that way is superior.

I like the idea of Meetup, but Bumble BFF seems a little too intimate (one-on-one meetings with potential friends)

The best way to meet people organically is in person and in a group where you’re not focused on one other person to give each other the green light or not. There’s less pressure that way. That being said you have to see the same people or group of people regularly and not just go out and see different people every time like at a bar or a concert, etc.

You have to join something where you are exposed to the same people regularly like a team or a production or a play or some common purpose. But to be honest it just seems harder nowadays — but I don’t know if that’s because the technology is more isolating or I’m just older, lol.

I’ve been noticing this trend more often. It’s a little strange but if it helps people then it’s good.

Making friends as easy at school because you're surrounded with everybody all the time.

Now that I'm 30 all of my co-workers are 65+ and I'm the youngest one who works for my company. Lol I literally don't want to be their friends so this should be great I'm going to swipe right on men. 😆

I think using dating apps those who want to make friends and look for romantic relationships are easier since a lot of people all ages always carry their smartphones in today's generation. Yes, it is very difficult to meet single people in person, especially we are still living in pandemic. I honestly have decided to use this app to make it easier for me to find a long-term romantic relationship. I find it helpful because a lot of guys like on my profile, showing their interest in me. It is up to me if I want to chat with them and hope I could meet them in person elsewhere, possibly public safe places like mall for example. I realize that I am not alone; a lot of guys who are in late twenties and early thirties (millenials) who are in my age-group are still single. In this case, I have a chance and hope I could find my soulmate.

Its not embarrassing at all. People who have friends sometimes dont even realize how much of a privilege it is.

Capitalism gets in the way of making meaningful connections and meeting people. The cost of living has risen and so goes having to work more. Then comes burnout. After that, you so are tired and exhausted, you just want to rest. You can’t make time to go out and do anything else. It’s ridiculous.
