This rc even comes with metal drive shafts. Traxxas needs to get it together.

Own both the Wltoys 12423 (2 years) and 12428 just over a year. I've upgraded in both the rear differentials to the steel version. And the 12423 is now brushless with a 3650 3900kv motor 60A esc and Steel 45 pinion and spur gear. Truly amazing rcs and value for money. The weakest points are the differentials

I bought one about a year ago, bashed it, beat it, tortured it, then converted it to a "cheap" brushless system and holy crap, on 3s it's insane. I have put this little guy through the wringer and the only thing that has broken was a wheel hub, but it was quite cold out when it happened(I'm in Wisconsin). Very fun, cheap rc....and yes, add shock oil.
