The shut-off value creates a vacuum in the intake manifold which stops the engine from rattling when you turn it off.

There is a setting in VCDS for off road EGR to limit the function a bit.

And the intake you are pointing out isnt the pancake tube. The pancake is the one that goes from the turbo to the intercooler

Great video. My question for you is this. Which would be easier for replacement of the turbo? From the top or underneath?

How was your hole buying experience with Darkside developments, did you parts come in a timely manner and was the DNL Air Express any trouble since we are in the US and the shipment of parts is outside the EU. Nice! Did all this to my 03 golf alh. Sounds like we are both in the south East. Tons of those pancake pipes on the 1.8t Jetta/golf in junk yards.
I’m not a big fan of the karma tune. Have a couple friends that like it. The Maloan tune sounds like it’s more aggressive and has been around forever. On there website they show tunes for the Tesla. I like that.

Is this a pd engine or the other one, or an ALH.. I'm so confused ...
And do you know if I can remove my intake manifold without having to remove the turbo or is it integrated on this tdi?

The main reason for all that carbon buildup is the problematic EGR valve. Additionally, your PCV valve doesn't seem to function properly. Please replace it before it causes issues with your intake. Both the EGR and PCV valves can severely impact the ALH engine's performance.

Having owned multiple pd150s, 130s, etc and been tuning these for a few years now get rid of the EGR!!!! You will never ever get more power from running one!

Also, you can get an inlet manifold used for less than £50 on ebay uk. We have thousands of the gt tdis (130, 150s golfs) in the uk...you can even buy a whole Golf for what you paid for that from darkside....
