Ramadan Kareem to all of our followers observing the holy month! I know posting a video about food now might seem like bad timing, but we are in this together.

Today, we will be attempting to unravel what Arab peasants ate in the medieval times. There may be this misconception about their food being boring, bland and not nutritious. Actually its quite the opposite. Watch the video to find out why!

Great video- I'm very glat you're taking the time to show us all this; there's a lot of info out there about the European middle ages already so I'm always glad to learn a bit more about the period in the Arab world. And Ramadan Kareem 😄

This was a good video but I think there might be a bit of an oversite at 7:22. Tomatoes are a new world food that wasn't in Eurasia until much later.

Awamah is called by many things: luqaimat (morsels) kaimat (another way of saying luqaimat), mushmush maqli (fried apricot), and zalabia.

it's nice to know that middle eastern commoners are similar to far eastern, mesoamerican, pacific, and african commoners in terms of having similar dishes (by majority, that is) with the upper class instead of having a complete different set of diet dictated by social status. The only differences is the quality of the ingredients in which the upper classes gets the best ones, as usual.

In Europe, peasants had a shitty life too. And few options.
