One point that wasn't made that people don't realize until they get into their 40's is that your energy falls off as you get older and it kills your productivity. Take advantage of that energy in your 20's and 30's, and crank out your productivity and knowledge because you're likely not going to be able to do what you're doing in your 20's and 30's when you're in your 50's and 60's. The "wall" that people talk about when you get in your 40's is very real.

Also, if you're working a typical 8 to 5 job, even if it's a pretty good one with a six figure salary and you've been doing it for decades, if you get laid off in your 50's your job prospects likely aren't going to be nearly as numerous as they would have been even 10 years ago. If you don't have something set up you could be kinda screwed and scrambling for solutions if your job was your only source of income. if you didn't manage your money well and built up a lot of bad debt on top of that, you could find yourself losing most of what you worked for (including your house) and working at Denny's while living in a craptacular apartment in your 60's. That's a real example BTW (not mine thank God).

What advice do you have for boomers that are behind on their financial future? Many of my boomer friends are not ready for retirement. Lets do a segment on boomers that thinks its too late for a great future due to mistakes they made when they were younger
