How to Add Wireless Apple CarPlay to 16-19 Toyota Prius w/ CarABC (Radio Removal/Install)

My 2017 Toyota doesn’t have Apple CarPlay, so with the help of this new CarABC module, I’m able to add it. This also supports Android Auto, mirror, and USB playback (mp4, mkv, mp3). I also show how to remove the radio and reinstall with dashboard trim for similar model 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 2021, 2022 Toyota Prius.

Based on this video, I bought a CarABC unit from Amazon. Following the instructions in this video, I was able to install this unit in my 2017 Prius, with no trouble at all.
I'm very happy to say, that it works great..! I'm now able to use Android Auto in my Prius. Thanks for posting this video..!!!

Big thanks for the video! Due to your video, the installation was really simple, though I have the Euro pre-facelift version of the prius, that differs in some tiny bits. Initially I was only a little bit "shocked" by the low Resolution. Of course it's caused by the display, but I never noticed that before as I didn't use the screen much. Greetings from Europe, Austria.

I just installed my module from carABC for my Toyota ch-r but all the menu looks a little different except for me main menu. I can’t use wired connection CarPlay. When I select CarPlay connection. It only says to activate Bluetooth and wifi on my phone. Weird… Also after a while of use, the screen starting bugging. I mean there was a kind of blinking lines in the middle of the screen. May be I’m working in an old firmware

Were you able to identify whether, when you use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, during a call, which microphone is enabled? Whether from the stereo or from the cell phone?

It is good to hear it works, but it is hard to justify for the price. At $400, I can replace it with a proper head unit or add a portable carplay/AA display.

Update: I just installed it few days ago and can confirm that it works in mine, Fujitsu Panasonic radio none-entune version. It’s perfect but resolution is not.

The Quality sound only change using the “aux” and device? But if i return menu and Connect to the original bluetooth system radio is always the same original sound quality? Althoug carabc is connected?

I tried to install the same box from CarABC for my Toyota CHR. I had a bad experience. The screen was randomly scrambled while using carplay. Make it unusable. I’m waiting for a replacement box but i hope that isn’t a general issue..

Hi, does the radio (digital radio, DAB) still work after installation? Toyota CH-R 2019. I read somewhere in the comments that you don’t have radio anymore after installation!

I have Prius 19 LE that has no Entune, would this work? Also, would it be possible to use the inbuilt aux usb by using an adapter instead of throwing the usb in the glove box? Pls suggest a good one if there is any.

Does your Prius have the entune system? I have a 2016 Prius 2 WITHOUT entune, and I’m not sure if I can install this on, but from what I can see yours doesn’t have entune either, right?

Thanks for this video. This is the first one I've seen connecting this device to a Toyota radio that looks exactly like the one I have in my 2017 Corolla LE. My factory radio also doesn't have "Home" or "Apps" functionality so I was worried that it wouldn't work. I honestly don't know if mine is Entune 2.0 or regular or whatever. So this video tells me that I should be able to use this in my Corolla?
