My father had me break in my boots the same way he did in the army. Standing in hot water for 5 minutes then run. 11 years later still the most comfortable boots I got

It relaxes the leather but also dries it out, don’t forget to follow up with a leather conditioner

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, and I’m glad you’re still grinding day in and day out.all of your videos have given me a better understanding about how to use tools in a new and different way.
Thank you sir, for all that you do.
Sincerely, Ethan.

A friend of mine in the Marine Corps bought me a pair of Altama combat boots as a birthday gift in 2004. He told me to soak them in hot water until the leather got soft, and to wear them until they were dry to mold them to my feet. It worked like a charm--I never got one blister from those boots, and they lasted 11 years. The only reason I got rid of them is because they started getting holes where the leather had worn through.

So I do leather work and there’s actually a few things you can do for boots I would say not to use alcohol cause it will mess up the finish on the leather and if it’s rough out with no finish it’ll mess up the grain but water will case the leather and stretch the fiber without messing up the finish AS LONG as you soak it evenly

Have to try this. Hate wearing gloves but sometimes don’t have much choice. Thanks for the tip!

Isopropyl alcohol is a dehydrator I think this one’s just a wives tale. It also evaporates so quickly it likely wont have the desired effect other than causing the leather to lose some moisture.
Look up “Aqueous Cleaning and Surface Conditioning Processes”

I love when you give good clean knowledge.

Thank you for that, I always thought the heat of my hands would soften and mold my leather gloves to my hand shape. But that takes a while longer

Yes but then you have to rewax the leather because the isopropyl alcohol dries it out and eventually it cracks

Man, that’s a great tip. My hands & feet are extra wide & when I get a deal on gloves or boots they often require a proper stretch. Thanks

I did this on my car too, it's now perfectly molded to my frame, and me to its.

Isopropyl alcohol breaks down nearly every material it comes in contact with, leather is no exception. Be sure you recondition your gear soon after.

I'm going to try this tomorrow before work just got a new pair of slip ons I need to break in. My usual way is to soak them completely then tie them as tight as possible and sleep with them on. But these don't have laces so I'm excited to try this out! Hopefully it's not flammable after I'm a welder😂
