Also, I leave the door wide open AND I take out the detergent dispenser & only put it back in while it’s in use. If not, mold builds up all in there! 😆

I use Clorox toilet clinging gel to spot treat the stains and they were completely removed. I let it sit on the stains with a rag over for a while and would go back to check on it’s progress then wiped away and cleaned up the product once the stains were gone.

I went ahead and just replaced my gasket because it was so gross but that's a good tip for the mold spray. I'd consider that if I didn't feel like replacing. 👍

Thanks! had no idea what was making my washer smell after 3 years of renting this apartment i help renovate, had no idea you have to maintain the washer, i figured the soap i use for the xlothes would kinda wash the washer?, and being a single father of 2 boys in a bachelor apartment is hard to keep the door open but makes sense!

Remove detergent drawer and clean the under top where water is dispersed. Mold builds up there too. Keep the detergent drawer open too.

Haha! Thanks!! I use those tablets too- they’re great. Love the hack to keep the door open! I have taught the kids to keep the washer open... such a bummer that someone (washer makers) haven’t solved this issue for us. 😊. Thanks for sharing the products you used too.

Thank you for doing this video. I am not very good at scheduling time for maintenance/cleaning on my appliances. Right now the inside of my dishwasher is the issue.

Use less detergent, like a tablespoon, no more than two tablespoons each time. That much goop stems from excess detergent. Also add extra rinse to each cycle. I have had my machine for five years and not had this much gunk and technician said it was because I use just enough detergent, and he said detergent directions are excessive in amounts recommended.

Awesome! Nice to know we aren't the only ones. We use the affresh tablets too. A tip we found is to pour boiling water in the detergent space when the loader is full to take the water line above and beyond normal.

Have your Washing Machine this Steriltub Program?
Sterile Tub
(self-cleaning program)
This program is used to clean the drum
and removal of detergent residues and
Bacteria.
Choose the program by typing
the program selection knob to the left or
turn right and to the Sterile Tub position
(self-cleaning program). At the same time lets choose no other function.
The drum must be empty. Dose only one
small amount of washing powder in the drum.
You can also add some alcohol vinegar (about 2 dcl) or
Add cooking soda (1 scoop or 15 g).
We recommend you the self-cleaning program to be performed at least once a month.

Have you tried a different detergent? I see lots of issues with Arm and Hammer, Purex, SUN, Xtra, and other cheap brands.
Also, try running rags, old towels, or even whites through the sanitize cycle every time you have a load of them. It does wonders for removing residue and keeping the machine clean.
