I don't even know how best to approach this statement, so I'm just going full cannonball.

I have NOTHING but the utmost respect for Chris and think this is possibly one of my favorite podcasts, and I listen to a lot.

And i was turned on to Dr. Dispenza awhile back from a lady who I respect a great deal.

But every time before, and this time as well, I can NOT lower my skepticism shield because every fucking thing this guy says and does triggers my "bullshitter" alarms.

Which is NOT to say that I think the things he teaches are fake or ineffective.

But I think they are "real" to the degree that he found a way to harness and saddle some biological hacks that DO result in measurable benefit, but without the mechanistic explanation to show WHY.

Hes a charlatan that built an empire by accidentally getting the right answer to a math problem on a quiz. And then just made up a whole bunch of bullshit that DOES NOT check out to explain how he arrived at that answer, and then it became a culture.

And I generally make it a point to forcefully shut out that voice in my head that wants to doubt, nay-say, or be "smarter than" anyone else who is speaking and JUST LISTEN for whatever wisdom there is to glean from someone that I might even personally disagree with or have SERIOUS doubts about.

But with Joe, I just can not.

And it sucks because I really wanted to trust him as much as everyone I've met who trusts him.

But ALL the red flags and patterns of a bullshitter are there and i can not even forcefully ignore them.

Dispenza has had only ONE published paper in his whole career...it was a collaboration with Australian researchers that showed there were some differences between brains when meditating and not meditating. Earthshaking news.

Please not. It is not even pseudo science but obvious bullshit. I listened to his audio book and it was physically painful how he talked about quantum physics, knowing nothing about it.

Interesting you’d give Joe Dispenza your platform - asking a few critical questions isn’t equivalent to simply questioning what he offers (for a good amount of money).

How will what you build be different than a second version of TV where all you’re doing is inviting the most outrageously popular folks who can draw an audience?

Would love to see an accomplished scientist like David Deutsch - who hasn’t yet made the rounds in the podcast sphere, but whose ideas are absolutely exceptional and fully based in the best scientific explanations we currently have.

after ALL this research he has papers "IN peer review". After all this papers are only "IN" peer

I like Dispenza but when I heard the story of the woman who got out of her wheelchair healed I could not help but think of the church revivals of blind people whose site was restored. While I do feel he makes many good points much of it I'm just not buying at all

Attended Dr Dispenza’s retreat in Switzerland this past November. Life changing. Already read Ernest Holmes and Neville Goddard, but Joe brings another level of depth and guides us into a practice. I have a genetic ataxia in my family and I’m changing my dna every time I meditate!

my mum asked me to go with her to one of his events years ago in london, i fell asleep about half way thru, woke up at the end and felt a mix of being super calm but also super high. i felt the euphoric feeling from mdma but i also felt completely sober. it was very calming. either he magically drugged the entire room with something, somehow used NLP to trick everyone or it's legit. after reflecting on my experience, i'm fairly confident it's legit. worth a look imo

this comment section is a good sample size for showing you the ratio of how many people are still asleep on their feet vs. how many are awake. Blessings to you all. I was where you used to be for that was who I used to be; confused, depressed, hopeless. I know you'll see the light one day. There is always hope.

Where can I find the scientific papers?

Obviously mind over matter is a real thing. If you've diligently worked at mediation and had mystical experience then you know. If it's not your experience it's not your truth - so I fully get why people are skeptical, as they should be. Try and remain open minded and find out for yourself.

From a Google search:
“How much is 3 standard deviations from the mean?
Around 99.7%
Around 68% of values are within 1 standard deviation of the mean. Around 95% of values are within 2 standard deviations of the mean. Around 99.7 are within 3 standard deviations of the mean.”
How is it possible to go to 300 or 400 or 500 standard deviations of the mean, as your guest says?

Hey Chris, did Neutonic get pulled from the market? I ordered it when it came out and it is no longer available in the US (Amazon)

I've been out to two of Joe's retreats, both the week long and evening events. I've built a rapport with one of his former team leaders back in 2018.

There is no evidence, ever. Back at those two events, he kept saying he would show us the data and research, and it never happened.

There were random people going up on stage giving a testimonial. But without medical records, this is not evidence. It's people making a claim with zero before and after proof.

A lot of the people that went up on stage, seem very emotional and very unstable, like a cry for attention.

Joe used to parade around a guy called Miles Kane on his testimonials. His claim was that his practices eliminated multiple brain and lung tumours.

Miles died of cancer not long after the event in Brighton, and his brother Joe tried to speak out. Miles' testimonial was removed from Joe's YouTube channel.

Consider this. It's convenient to say these ailments can be healed within a week, but can instantly come back when they go home... What does that suggest to you?

Joe has a massive cult following who are ignorant to themselves. Don't worry about them attacking you with baseless claims. They're desperate for what he says to be true, because they've been fooled into following a fool.
