Freestyle Swimming Technique Progression Drills

This week we are releasing a low octane freestyle progression drills video in our subscription. This sequence of drills is key to mastering a fast freestyle technique. First we begin by learning to rotate without any arms. This develops muscle memory in the core that is so crucial to have an efficient and fast pull.

Next we move onto adding 1 stroke with the classic 6 kick switch drill. We are now learning how to not only rotate with the stroke but also how to hold the hand high and strike down fast as it moves forward.

And last, before moving onto full stroke, we add 3 strokes. Here we learn how to maintain tempo while being aggressive with every stroke.

Rotation, key core aquatic skill, must be taught at the earliest possible stages, and then for it to be constantly refined and developed.
