DC1A is still great after all those years. My go to on background vocals.
Best free plugin discovery of the recent year for me was probably FirComp. It’s an extremely clean compressor that is hard to make sound bad and work so well as a de-esser with the respective sidechain frequency that I rarely use any other dedicated de-esser anymore.

Hi Chris. Side note here. I had a mild stroke in December 2020. Im ok. But i need a speech therapist, and ive lost all the cubase and general computer stuff to do what i was doing. Im currently re-recording a prior album of mine. Anyways, your videos have helped me get back on track here. Its now almost June, but your videos have helped me alot. I already was a subscriber. But now im getting back to work in cubase. Thank you for the great videos. Their even better the 2nd time around. Lol. Keep up the great work dude. 💪

Among my favorite free plugins for mixing (compressor, clipper/limiter and EQs) are from Tokyo Dawn Labs (TDR series). I also like Voxengo's free saturator 7-band EQ plugin, Overtone GEQ.

It’s on YOU Chris.
Fine job!
For FREE plugins I think you’ve really touched on some really useful pieces. And clearly YOU know why they are going to be beneficial in important mix situations.
Most of the clowns out there calling themselves Mix Engineers and making videos like this wouldn’t have been allowed to do anything besides make the coffee in the real studios of the 1980’s and 1990’s, but not you. You know your business. 😎👍
Thanks mate.

Great list! I was a bit sceptic about the number of plugins, but wow! It’s amazing how good the quality of those free ones are and how many there are. A lot of new and useful productions tools for me, thanks!

Thanks for the video. I tried the Chow plugin and it's been a huge help on taming the edginess of digital guitars . I've also used it on weak vocals or ones with a prominent high end like certain female vocals and it's amazing how well it works. Thanks again.

Thanks for a great review as always Chris! It’s nice to get email reminders from you so I can checkout your channel even if I wasn’t planning on being on YouTube. The “PRE” button on the Acustica Audio Coffee Pun, engages a Germanium preamp to add that flavor if you want. Even without the use of the EQ you can run ur sound through the PRE just for the sound. Til next time

Hey Chris, I just wanted to say thanks and extend my gratitude to you - I only discovered the DAW journey very recently (Cubase) but learning loads (what else is there to do in a pandemic)? Thanks for the tutorials, the templates and the song tracks. Awesome job. Rich (UK)

Very good video, bro! Span is what Iwas looking for. Also I've been using Chow Tape at gigs with my guitar rig. It has 0 latency and sounds awesome!

Actually I heard the Chow Tape Model it is modelled after the Sony TC-260. I think on BPB!
