Super 101, but good tip for new mixers. New mixers: learn basic signal flow, console organization, and gain staging. Three of the most important things you'll ever learn.

So basically it's an aux buss. For FL Studio users use the template empty with 4 sends. The 4 sends in your mixer are 4 aux busses. Put your reverb, delays on there. Use channel strips on the regular channels to get all you need to mix with 1 plugin, buss compressor on the master buss. Saves a lot of CPU, and gets the job done with minimal effort.

Also I believe you should set the dry wet signal to fully wet when used on a bus otherwise the dry part of the signal will be sent back to channel making it louder

From what I've gathered, at least in the case of FL Studio, bussing effects in this way actually decreases multi core utilization. In some cases this may cost more CPU than you have to go around. I can't say for certain how this scenario plays out in other DAWs, however. In my case, even with a 12 core CPU (Ryzen 3900x), if I run for example an izotope plugin and a quality SSL mix bus comp on a group of 3 or more, it is very noticeably more costly CPU-wise than if I had done preliminary processing on individual mixer channels. I think in terms of workflow, intuition, and cohesive sound, bussing effects is a great idea. Just check out how your DAW handles multi threading and parallel computations.

AND it often sounds more natural. At least with Reverbs.

For anyone interested learning more about it, it's refered to as an aux. There's a ton of info on auxs on the web.

This guy has some very useful tips. Tips that aren’t stupidly obvious like ”eq reverb” or things like that

What i like to do is send a different PreDelay to the reverb. that way you can have one big room but everyone sounds like they are in a different part of the room.

And then start using channel strips to consolidate even more :) plus many sound incredible

Plus u can put the aux channel in as a track region and automate multiple effects at once

new format is probably really good for your engagement but I'll be tuning into your more in depth advanced stuff 👍🏻

I feel this is a great new format for music tutorials in general. Or any tutorial! Thanks!

Great but sometimes... plugin must get -18dB on input to work correctly. So sending for example to a reverb just a bit of a signal makes it sound flat... Same with compressors etc.. You should unfortunately trim the effect on return of a channel with inserted fx using a fader.

Getting the bus has never felt so good!

I can’t fit my reverb on my master bus when I have 3 eqs and a couple delays. It’s saves a lot of cpu tho

And it puts all tracks in the same "room", it feels more natural

And also add a compressor sidechained to the kick after the reverb...and boom! 🙄😇

Yes mi Bredda even compressor and eq can do the same.thing through parallel processing
