As an American, I have fallen in love with Iranian history and culture. I hate how there are so many hurdles to travel to Iran or Afghanistan, but I was at least able to study Persian in Tajikistan for almost a year, travel to Bukhara/Samarkand, teach some Afghan children English, and live with a wonderful Tajik family. It is near the anniversary since I got back home to the States, but I feel I left another in Khorasan. I hope the world remembers what we owe this region and recognizes its beauty once again someday.
