I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Mattel tends to use terrible, rigid papery plastic fabric for so many Barbie outfits now. They also tend to print a lot of the details on the outfits (pockets, stitching etc) . So I really like that for Blind Barbie they used nicer material and some fun, tactile ruffles on the skirt.

I like that the shirt and skirt are different textures i can imagine that tactile difference to be impactful for blind/visually impaired kids playing with this doll :)

Molly!! When I first heard about this Barbie I was CONVINCED they turned you into a Barbie!

So happy for little blind Molly and all those blind little kids out there who now feel seen. Not to mention all the average kids out there who will learn about being blind and normalize it. My daughter wanted a wheelchair for her Barbie because her God Mother uses one. Her doll has lost a leg and when her Grandma wanted to throw it out she explained she needs a wheelchair and just because her leg is gone doesn't mean that she was trash. She just need a chair to help her out. All kids should grow up knowing these things and blind Barbie is another step in that direction.

Have you seen the video of the 3 year old blind girl getting this Barbie? She was very excited and played with it by making the Barbie do the sweep movement (which the girl is currently learning to do herself). Very cute.

The clothes have more texture than I'm used to seeing in Barbie sized clothes, so it's fun to touch and feel as much as it is to look at. I like that touch!

I love this so much! And I love that they actually had focus groups of young blind girls so they actually knew how to make it good and be what little blind girls would want 💜

Also they made here eyes point in slightly different directions which is the case for some (although of course not all) blind people
