tap Settings
tap about phone
tap software info
tap 7 times build number
go back to settings
tap developer options
tap OEM unlocking
tap enable
tap USB debugging
tap OK
power off Samsung
connect USB cable to laptop / pc
hold volume up and volume down buttons
than connect USB-c to the device
press long on volume up button
and then press once volume up to continue

Aren't you supposed to make backup copy before rooting?
Also once the computer recognizes your phone can't you just copy and paste the contents onto a flash drive (one with enough storage) the way you do transferring files from flash drive onto flash drive?
