Heard a story where this person started working at this zoo, the first thing they were taught was not to get too close to the fence part of the polar bear exhibit when feeding no matter what cause the bears were good actors. They would use the lid of a bucket like a Frisbee and one of the bears would catch it and play with it and then throw it back over the fence. One day they dropped a piece of food and the bear whined and pawed towards it but clearly couldn't reach so it stared at them continuing to whine. They left it there as they were taught and right as they left the room the looked back just in time to see the bear reach out and snatched the food and then stare them in the eye. If they would've bent down to get it they would've been close enough to be grabbed by the bear.

Polar bears actually have been observed acting cute around their prey so they don’t run away instantly. Then, after the prey feels some semblance of safe, they go for the kill.

When i was a kid, our neighbors had a huuge snaked named Oli. At one point he had stopped eating for a long time and my neighbors got worried. During this time he would sometimes stretch his entire body out on the bed next to the lady, and she thought it was cute that he wanted to cuddle with her.

Eventually they spoke to the vet about him, and the vet told them to get rid of Oli immediately! Apparently, he was starving himself in preparation for a big meal, and he was stretching himself out next to her in order to measure her! Oli was getting ready to eat that lady, and that "cuddling" wasn't so cute and friendly after all.

This video sort of reminds me of that. Humans will assign human-like motivation to an animal's behavior and it often has dangerous and deadly consequences.

I'm pretty sure that bear wants to eat that lady and its behavior merely *seems* cute and friendly. Remember folks: polar bears see humans as food, and will actively hunt and eat you if given the chance.

Edit: to clarify most animals will take a bite out of a human. But they are often acting in defense of a territory or threat.
