Breaking Down Christie Sides’ TERRIBLE COACHING
Christie Sides is one of the most hated coaches in basketball currently. Obviously, coaching Caitlin Clark is a big reason why Christie Sides gets a lot of backlash online. But, is Christie Sides REALLY a bad coach?
In this video, I break down her at times TERRIBLE Coaching.

Man, you breaking down the Fever plays deserve a subscription from me. Pls keep doing this. If only Sides know how to coach though😢

Hey man I just wanted to say I really appreciate your channel. It’s crazy the amount of hatred on the league and everyone is just using Caitlin or Angel for headlines. I love that you’re not hating, just breaking down plays. I can tell you aren’t here just to put the league down or get views like essentially every other channel out there. I wanted to do something like this but I don’t have anywhere near the basketball knowledge lol but I watch because it’s fun and I enjoy it. I also want to learn more about the sport because I didn’t start watching until a couple years ago when I fell in love with the women’s game in 2021, and my love has just grown. Thank you so much for being real, it’s an extremely rare quality on YouTube. Keep up the amazing work 😊

Another great video! You missed the play where Sides stopped a fast break to call a timeout haha. But man I hope Kelsey Mitchell accidentally finds this video and watches it. You are absolutely right! The amount of times I yelled at my computer because the offense is so stagnant like what are we doing. Kelsey is also extremely explosive and fast, so if anyone can get away with those backdoor cuts it's her. The fact that these flaws are still so clear 16 games in, makes you question what the coaching staff is doing. Surely they've seen this in previous game reviews?! What are they analyzing when they watch film? Can't even speculate and say it's the other teams offense and how to plan defensively for that, because it definitely doesn't look like it in game...

Another great video Carter! Offensively the Fever aren’t cutting back door nor do they know how to set good screens most of the time. And there have been so many times where the Fever are not playing near their offensive opponent and they will still lift their arms in the air when they are 8-10 ft away just to make it appear like they are trying to contest the shot, and it looks stupid and it’s not fooling anyone. Lexi is good on defense but she and Katie need to get some shooting practice and advice because they are always getting wide open 3s, and missing most of them. The main thing they need to do is understand how to set screens and how to defend around screens too. And as you mentioned, they need to scout their opponents and know their opponents strengths and weaknesses.

this is amazing. you are on fire.

"have you guys ever wondered why the Indiana Fever is so stagnant? because I do. you just have nothing: a stagnant offense."

it's lovely to see what Christie Sides COULD be talking about, in the locker room at half-time.

and it's SO lovely (slowed down to about 80%) to think about what they all need to be considering. and actually be DOING on the court. "you need to be cutting! press up! smother them!"

you are so incredibly inspiring! so much fun for us, but DAMN it would be nice to light a fire under their butts. I WISH they had a coach like you.

Great job! People are always giving Sides grief. This is the first time I've seen someone show why.

Most of the time when I see something on Sides now I ignore it, but I know you are going to show me specific plays and talk about specific tactics. Keep them coming! Also can you post the link to Mick that had you. Hopefully Sides will address this in the next two weeks.

I think their half court offense needs another pair of eyes from the bench. I too see Mitchell not cutting but drives me crazy when they're all standing around waiting for plan B to happen. Caitlin stands around when she doesn't have the ball too, probably because they don't know how to create opportunties when she doesn't have the ball. Good catch on their defense giving up too much space.

I think the momentum killing sub of putting AB/Dantas on together might have been the worst thing she did that quarter

Great preparation, video content, editing, and professional commentary. Unlike some podcasters who just wing it, expressing lots of opinion and little else, you do the hard work to offer us informative and crisp analysis. Your hard work before the podcast pays off during the podcast. My guess is that you also prepared hard in advance of your AAU games. Thanks, Carter.

Wow, great analysis. I don't watch much basketball but you make me understand the issues.

People complain about Clark not moving off ball but half of it is because of the offensive game plan

Carter, you mentioned scouting. The University of Iowa WBB had awesome assistant coaches who did a great job scouting. I feel the whole Fever staff is lacking professionalism.

Their mistakes will carry us through the off-season with your analysis! Thanks!! Nice job!

Someone should send this vid to the Fever owner or his son. Lin Dunn apparently doesn't watch Fever games otherwise Sides wouldn't still be the coach.

On a couple of the plays where Mitchell doesn't cut to the basket, what she seems to be doing is camping, open, on the three-point line. On one play she actually walks toward Clark along the arc. The question of whether Clark should pass to Mitchell for a 3 attempt or wait for a cutter is interesting. As it happens, Mitchell is shooting 36.8% for 3-points and 50.5% for 2 points, both good numbers. But the math slightly favors the 3, with Mitchel scoring 0.1 point more per shot on her 3 attempts than on her 2 attempts. There is also an argument that the chance of something going wrong, especially a turnover either on the pass or the drive, is greater on the cut than on the standing shot. Clark often does not seem to want to pass to Mitchell for the 3 attempt, but Sides may be correct tactically if she is asking Mitchell to wait for the three instead of cutting, even though Clark seems to frequently either not see her or not choose to pass to her.

I do love Lexie Hull's defense -- another Stanford player who learned excellent defense in a program that consistently teaches good defense. However, a couple of nice offensive plays on the video notwithstanding, Hull is not currently a good offensive player -- FG% 33.8%, 3P% 22.2%, 3.6 PPG on 13 minutes of play. The question is, can the Fever carry her offense to get her defense? Or, can Hull improve her offense if she gets more time?

Sides half court offense has ABSOLUTELY NO motion whatsoever!!! Put one in each corner and let them watch 3v5. I have noticed that alot of other teams do the same scheme, but the corner players move more.
