In Devilman Crybaby, Ryo calls God a cold ruthless being. One who comes to hate demons for there violent and malevolent behavior. Ryo, as Satan sympathizes with the demons, to him they are the purest forms of existence, free to pursuit their desire and beholden only to their strength. When Satan challenged God and lost, God sought to teach Satan a lesson. He filled the world with humans, fragile, weak, creatures as if to spite Satan. Then God created Akira, and Satan fell in love. God desired the destruction of demons not because they were evil, but because they knew not of true strength. Satan came to love another being and then became the very reason as to why he lost it, and so came God's final lesson. There is no greater strength than to willingly give your heart to those who may destroy, and there is no greater pain then to destroy the only one who could have ever accepted you. And so the cycle begins again, until Satan can finally understand and abandoned his crusade.

The ending didn’t make me cry, neither did miki dying, it just left me empty. In shock. As I reflect back on the show, I’m soul crushed, from mikis brother eating their mum and their dad finding them, that scene hit me hard, mikis death hit harder and by the end, nothing was left to hit. This show was beautiful, from the music to the animation to the art style
