Gluing Leather- Tips & Tricks

Join Clayton as he chats about our new non-smelly, water and solvent based glues from Renia!

First up is Klebfest. Simply apply Klebfest to the flesh side of oil tan leather, you can use our silicone brush to achieve a thin layer of glue (you don’t need a lot!) apply to both sides of the leather you are adhering together. Let dry. After dried, you'll find a tight and strong bond! This also works for veg tan leathers. Clayton uses the Silicon Flat Brush to apply this glue in a thin layer.

Next, is the Aquilim 315, which we offer in three sizes: gallon, 32 oz., and 8 oz. This is fantastic for veg tans! Place glue on the flesh side of veg tan leather. If placing on grain side, rough it up a bit before placing the glue on. Spread this glue on leather thinly and wait for it to clear before adhering to another leather. Clayton uses the Renia Small Glue Brush to apply Aquilim.

Clayton then tries out the Atom Superglue which stays flexible when dry. This works great for even oil tan leathers! Simply place on leather and apply pressure for about a minute. This creates a strong, yet flexible bond which is great for leather working! **This glue is solvent based and flammable.**

Finally, Clayton introduces us to his new glue accessory the TS Boy Glue Pot! This is a handy auto feed glue pot. Fill it up and it will auto feed your glue. Keep your brush in the cap for easy storage.

We are looking forward to seeing how this works. There will be a live chat that goes along with the video and we hope to be able to answer questions and take suggestions on new videos.

Hi
I don't really "glue" leather together. I tack it just to keep it together until I can saddle stitch everything. I've been using your Evertack for about 3 years, and I'm thrilled with the results! I have left it set on two pieces for as long as 4 hours (forgot about it), and when I came back to the bench and put the 2 pieces together, (I was certain that it wouldn't hold), but it did...admirably. I still have 8 or so ounces of it here. I use it almost every day in my business, The Mountain Man Emporium. I'd consider trying your new offerings once I use up all of the Evertack that I have here.
Take care and thanks for staying on top of the leather workers needs. SLC is a great company to deal with.
God bless:

Hello! Great video! Just wondering if you would recommend any of these to adhere rubber soles to leather shoes?

Hi. I'm trying to wrap braided leather cord around a metal lightsaber hilt. Which adhesive would you recommend using? Preferably something not fast drying I can coat on the hilt and then start wrapping. Wrapping won't take a large amount of time since the area is small, but I don't want to rush the job worrying that the glue will dry before I'm done. Also, I'd rather not try to put the adhesive on the leather itself since it's cord and there's no "side" to it. Just on the metal hilt. I also don't want anything I'd need to hold firmly for hours and hours. Though, I guess I could wrap it firmly with tape to hold it in place while it dries. Forgive me. I'm a novice and a guy living in a small apartment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My crafting involves a lot of contact cement, and one of my major concerns is the solvent fumes. Is the water-based contact cement really fume-free? No cancer, ventilation or avoiding-open-flames warnings?

What would you recommend to glue some seams together? This is on my 82 Jeep that I'd like to keep original seating but driver side is spreading at seams.... Thanks!

Can you sew through this? I need something besides clips to hold two together to sew.
