My pick today, Glenn Campbell. Most known for his singing but was a great guitarplayer, a part of The Wrecking Crew and played on a lot of records. He could play any style.

Good afternoon (evening, night or morning), Pete. Another nice choice for your list. Personal pick today [and again, not in any particular order] is this English musician and performer who is co-founder as well as the chief songwriter, guitarist and strong second vocalist of that mighty band - The Who: Mr. Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend. A man of many talents and genius but we're talking guitar work here so let's begin with this then 11 year old watched the band perform in 1967 on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour on American television and literally blow up and destroy their instruments. Townsend's windmill guitar playing theatrics caught quick attention. But there is so much more to Pete's guitar playing - both hard and soft. The albums for today - Tommy, Who's Next and Quadrophenia [sounds familiarly like last month when discussing Roger Daltrey for vocals]. The song? Plenty to choose but, again, sticking with the same off-the-beaten-path choice taken for Daltrey's vocals last month - Behind Blue Eyes from the Who's Next album. Acoustic and electric Pete. What's not to love? Thanks to you, Pete, for another daily series. Looking forward to your next selection.

My pick for today is Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. What an amazing catalogue of work, from his days with the Yardbirds through multi-dimensional music of Led Zeppelin. No particular order, and while I love all these guitarists, but the starred (**) names are my most favorite. I've posted a couple favorite tracks (and some cases, albums or solos) of mine as well:

29. Jimmy Page - Led Zeppelin (Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You ; Stairway to Heaven)

30. Tony Iommi - Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath ; Heaven and Hell)

Today's pick...Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. A staple of the early Steely Dan band as well as the Doobie Brothers, Jeff also recording tons with many famous artists from Elton John to Carly Simon. I will go with Rikki Don't Lose That Number with the signature guitar solo that everyone has heard forever.
Can't Buy a Thrill

Hopefully Glenn Campbell will appear in the list. When EVH was having a bit of a struggle Alice Cooper told him to go and see Campbell. Best performance is the William Tell Overture on a 12 string on his head.

Pete. Im fired up for this month ! Im gonna go Mick Ralphs to open the month . So bad ass. Killer riffs. Bad Company. Deal with the preacher, honey child, sweet little sister. Run with the pack. How bout Burnin Sky ? Smokin riff! I saw bad company in 79 . All you heard was thunder with lightning. Crack ! And all of a sudden, Burnin Sky . Mick ralphs. That riff. So freakin bad ass. It was so nasty. And paul rodgers came out. The place went nuts from the opening riff. Still got chills

#29- Al DiMeola. Regardless of the album, his guitar talent is consistently brilliant and flawless, and his best albums feature music that is intricate and well played. Album choices: Elegant Gypsy, Casino, Splendido Hotel. Performance choice: "Elegant Gypsy Suite."
