Learn how to switch GIT branches even when you have made changes. Its easy to move your changes to the correct branch (even if you committed changes already, or EVEN if you pushed said changes to the origin!) Watch how to do it in Visual Studio. You DON'T have to lose your changes to switch branches if you were coding in the wrong place. GIT Stash is powerful, and easy to use, check it out. Its also not so hard to revert a commit and keep your changes all within visual studio.

This video saved a lot of headaches when I forgot to switch my branch to a user branch and did a commit to local master. Thankfully it's a single-user repository but at least it wasn't full of messy "reverts" and "resets" I had tried.
