188k is absolutely insane for a base model with not even 400hp

I am at a point that buying used is the way forward. I cannot stand digital gauges, lack of buttons etc. It looks cheap and lazy. At least in the 922.2 the cluster is integrated into the dash. Some (BMW, Ford etc) look like they glued an iPad behind the steering wheel. It's awful.

Screw modern cars, if they're worried about safety they should enforce licenses that teach people to actually drive rather than the bare minimum to operate a vehicle.

You can thank the EU for the Speedlimit Thing. Sadly to see that over time more and more of these "laws" gets imposed on our lifes no matter if we want them. As you said, maybe the way forward is to go back to older Cars. I don't like being told what to do in my car and what not, if that means I have to drive an older car then be it.

Gonna miss the analog gauges :') One more positive is that Luke's cinematics are as lit as usual

The fact that you have to essentially attempt to “reboot” the car like one does with a computer should tell everyone cars just aren’t what they used to be.

Modern day car safety logic: let's introduce a system that warns you each time you go 1 km/h above speed limit but, at the same time, let's also allow car makers to pack all of the car settings in huge screens that will force you to take your eyes off the road every 30 seconds. This is just ridiculous.

Fun fact, in my new Clio i have a button wich specifically allows to turn off both speed limits and lane keep assists with just two clicks.
At least Renault acknowledge that this new rules are non sense and all manufacturers should do the same...

The value of these just plummeted, thanks for the honest review.

Sadly, I'm not surprised by this. I own a 2022 992, which has been a total nightmare since I first sat on it: door panel noises, roof noises, dashboard rattles, power windows failing, seatbelt warning going off all the time, suspension replaced, and, worst of all, an unsolvable and irritating exhaust vibration noise in low revs which has driven me insane and taken away the joy in driving the car (for which Porsche told my dealer " if it isn't fixable, tell the customer it's normal"). Who would imagine that for a 911 at €160k?

It's not news to any Porsche enthusiast that the company is heading down the same path as Boeing: betting on low-quality build and cheap materials while borrowing on the brand's equity to sell at sky-high prices. It's surprising that, for a company that has flirted with bankruptcy twice in the last 30 years, it can take its eyes away from consumer experience and feedback and focus on minimizing operational costs while maximizing share price.

I've owned a few different Porsches by now and can attest to two things: the make isn't the same, and it's getting vertiginously worse quickly. Unfortunately (or not), I can now "relax" and accept that my desire to buy new Posches is gone. My love for the brand will remain true to a part of the company's history where the things they used to make were the true definition of precise German engineering: driver-focused, down-to-earth, simple, and great.

Feels like just another very annoying modern car to say the least..

I’m so glad you mentioned all of those annoying things about the car; looks like the 991.2 and 992.1 base are the way to go!

Even the cars are telling Porsche they have a malfunction with the new 992.2. If they are not going to come standard with analog gauges then perhaps an analog package or option is in order. I would select any options to reduce the amount of new electronics interference! Hopefully you made it back home safely!

Modern cars are just undriveable with the constant warnings, sounds, interference, "safety" features and cheap electronics that no one wants. There is no escaping the speed warning issue as its now mandated by eu psychopaths. New cars are not desirable anymore, just look for nice second hand ones without the irritations.

Nice video, Luke. And I am with you; certain key features of a 911 should not be changed. I don’t like the full digital dash either and the loss of starting the car with a key is just sacrilege. That starter button looks so cheap.

I'm glad to see you sharing both positives and negatives. Your videos on the 992.1 were always very very positive so its good to see that you provide the negative feedback when Porsche deserves it.

Just a few notes. You can turn off lane keep with a button on the cruise control stock, and you can assign the joker button on the steering wheel to turn off speed warning. And the car you drove is basically the same car as 992.1, just with bigger turbos, a bigger intercooler and some tweaks. It has a 3.0, not a 3.6 like you said. The new 3.6 is exclusive to the new GTS.

Zuffenhausen is currently sweating bullets b/c there is literally zero interest from current 718 owners to potentially preorder the upcoming EV version. Oh boy…

Thought the Speedlimit warning was a new EU law, i guess Swizerland just applied it to them selfes😢
