This tutorial is FANTASTIC.
had an issue with my computer taking multiple minutes on a single simple HD sized photo (I'd have just gotten an 3060TI so it was odd because it was rather loud as well). Task manager said all the toll is going to my CPU and this is the first video that had taken me through every step. No clue what i'd have done without knowing about tiling, which was set to 2048 before this.

Do u know what might be causing a CUDA illegal location error message when trying to render. I’ve been using the gpu to render for a long time now and it gave me an error all of a sudden yesterday 😭😭😭 and yes I have updated all my drivers and tried older versions of blender and tried to render again and it gave me the same message

Thank you, i had to switch to OptiX to get it to work because when it was in CUDA it just wouldnt activate even when my gpu was the only one marked

Help! When I go to preferences, it doesnt look like it does when you did it at 1:55! all I see is Memory & limits, video sequencer and sound, with no option to change my GPU. Does this have anything to do with the version of blender I'm using?

(I am using blender 3.0, but I am running it on my imac, maybe it doesn't have a GPU?) (I don't really know what I'm talking about in terms of computers)

Could you talk a bit about the differences between CPU and GPU rendering? I remember watching something about it a while ago and there seemed to be some downsides with for example glass rendering, where it had a tendency to come out worse with GPU rendering. That was with Maya, arnold though, It might be different with blender.

i had it selected but it was greyed out for months. no wonder my cpu was running at 100 degrees all the itme....
