To experience true satisfaction in this life and the glories of the life to come, we are to hunger and thirst after spiritual food just as we hunger and thirst after natural food. Jesus talks about how He meets our spiritual needs when He says, "'I am the bread of life, ' Jesus told them. 'No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again'" (John 6:35). Jesus also says, in speaking of spiritual rest compared to the natural need for rest, "'Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest'" (Matthew 11:28). Are we spiritually hungry and thirsty? If we are, Jesus says we are blessed ("'Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed, for they will be filled.'" Matthew 5:6). May we believers be like the psalmist who said, "'As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for You, God. I thirst for God, the living God'" (Psalm 42:1-2a). Thanks for the teaching, Dr. G.
