This is somehow the most natural *and* the most stylized scene in the movie, and it works so beautifully. Simon's cadence is perfect, but it doesn't sound like a recital, ya know?

This scene will be studied by film students for the rest of the history of the human species. It’s perfect.

This is the best scene of the movie and the best movie scene I've seen all year. I love the music, Simon's voice, and acting, the writing. The blatant exposition in this fantastic way is genius. Excuse me a minute.

2:20 Oh, man, the pain in his eyes, his voice, his movements and the music!! This was by far the best scene in this movie.

To go from Big Bang Theory to this is amazing

To sum it up, single shot, live music capture. Masterpiece.

I didn’t care much for the movie but this scene is truly remarkable. Every single detail of this scene is just outstanding.

I hope he was nominated and won every hot shot film award for best supporting actor . This screen captures every note every scale every wave of his broken still beating heart as the conductor.

A scene worth the price of the ticket. Truly a unique experience, this movie.

The whole cast was splendid. Driver and Cotillard with Oscar-worthy performances

There's that Bob Fosse quote about musicals, where "The time to sing is when your emotional level is too high to speak, and the time to dance is when your emotions are too strong to only sing".
I think it's so smart how they made that fit with a conductor.

This is such a powerful scene. The fact that the two brothers of the band Sparks wrote this movie as well as the music just gives testimony to their utter genius.

He's beyond The Big Bang Theory now.

This scene outshines the entire movie like the sun would the moon. I've come back to it every now and then and it's a perfect 10 every time. A narrative, visual and musical diamond. More rare and precious than most 2 hours films I've seen in the last ten years. Pure cinema.

I love this actor so much! He's underutilized.

What a scene! The exposition as any director could only wish for. Equally poetic as epic.

This is a stroke of narrative brilliance I've never seen the likes of, even taken out of context. I've never been more proud to be a Sparks-fan <3
