We have a rule in Australia when it's 38°C / 100°F the work stops. At those temperatures, you no longer have the ability to regulate your internal temperature.

Its one hell of a series finale we've been cooking up this last few hundred years

yeah the continual record breaking weather events is terrifying, and knowing as an average person that there's so little that I can do, and that it mostly falls on big business and the government's of the world to take action is just adds to it

it’s insane how some people are horribly anxious over climate change, while others don’t care at all. it’s like there are two versions of reality taking place simultaneously.

The numpties going "The climate always changes naturally" are correct... but they are also completely ignoring that the rate at which the climate is changing is a _massive_ factor in whether it is an issue or not.

The global temps going up by 1c every few centuries or thousand years... no big deal. The global temps going up 1c every few decades... well, that is one hell of an issue. And it is an issue we are starting to stare in the face. Because evolution needs time... and if species don't have the time needed to adapt to the changes in the environment, well... guess what happens to them? Extinction.

And a mass extinction event is a very bad thing for us.

I'm a landscaper, and my crew and I had to call it a day at 2pm last Friday because the heat index was 105°F.

This will be a challenge for my therapist as well since it's not easy to help someone who has a perfectly sensible stress response to something like climate change :')

Filming this on a plane is quite something with the subject matter.

this is why perspective is IMPORTANT, people! you have to stop thinking about it as “the hottest it’s been, ever” and start thinking about it as “the coldest it’ll ever be from this point onwards!” It’s about the MINDSET (but seriously, this is terrifying)

While global warming is contributing to this, one of the other biggest reasons we have found is that last year, an underwater volcano erupted. The heat from that volcano cannot escape the ozone, so it’s been stuck here. There are also several other reasons, such as the energy radiating from the sun. Climate change is still the biggest factor, which sucks because it feels like we can never do anything.

I see people talking about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and they call it. Currently, where I live (USA Midwest), kids are still supposed to be going to school even if they walk or go on the bus (most busses here have no AC, its a heat box) Its ducking dreadful. I hope all of the young kids I see walking to school and home are okay. They are way too young to handle these temperatures. Especially if teens and adults can't handle them either! We also have 70% humidity on average. So it's not just dry heat. It's wet, sticky heat, meaning sweating does basically nothing. Kids can't get excused absences either. It stays on your record for the year, and if you get enough, you get in trouble with the school.
