Nathan didn’t prophesied but he simply did approve David’s idea about building the temple. His approval was wrong because he should have consulted with God before He gave his approval. It’s a great lesson also as David had a great desire for the house of God to be build. No matter how great is our desire to honour God we should direct that desire to God alone and not to ask our friends opinion regarding of their status. Their opinion could be so wrong .

If someone prophesizes that something will come to pass such as some work of the enemy and then believers pray against it or the person/people who the word was for repents and the bad thing does not happen, that's not a wrong prophecy or a false prophet. That's exactly why God gave us prophets--to bring God's people to repentance and warn of God's judgement if we do not repent.

I think it's also similar regarding wrong teachers and false teachers. Some make errors and are corrected, some deliberately twist meaning.

Better to not have any man prophesy over me at all. Nothing came to pass but was exposed to be false and much emotional hurt to me.

Deliberately giving false prophecies is one thing. Being lied to by the devil and mistaking it for God's word is another.

I am concerned that many of the prophets in the US are speaking out of their own wants and desires, often following political lines. I listen to very few and only if they resonate with what the Spirit is saying.

A wrong prophet is still unacceptable as its deceiving as any false prophet.
People put complete trust in them and if the prophecy they gave is wrong, in some situation, this could lead to great damages or even lost of life.
A wrong prophet should consider retiring that prophet title completely.

This is very true all in all test every spirit and I believe a telling factor on whether or not a prophet is real is how they live their life outside of the walls of the church

I’m very skeptical on that because I’m Nigerian and we have a bunch of people who claim to be prophets but indeed false I believe true prophets are there I just haven’t been in touch with one.


And I live in the US guys I only talk of the scammers in Nigeria because it’s a big and serious issue.

That's why we should study to show ourselves approved unto God. A workman will not be ashamed when they rightly divide the Word of Truth. Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for discernment. He will guide us into all Truth. Amen🙌🏾🙏🏾😇💯

I believe both prophecies came true. In Acts 21:4 they told Paul he should not go to Jerusalem ( I believe meaning not at that time or straightway), because he stayed there 7 days and 1 day in Ptolemais and many days with Phillip the evangelist, so he didn't go up to Jerusalem until Acts 21:15 -"And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem."

When speaking as an oracle, you need to be right so the Lord is not misunderstood.
Nathan was speaking on his own behalf concerning David's desire to build the temple but corrected him later.
To say prophets are no longer under OT "rules" allows false prophets to slip through the cracks. His view gives these people alibis if "they missed it."
