I love simple and to the point tips... thanks for putting the like, comment, subscribe stuff at the end of the video, so we could focus on the answer first. Very much appreciated.

Great video. I was stuck on this basic dissolve transition for several hours. Coming from Cyberlink Power Director to Davinci Resolve Studio is a huge change. Cyberlink can't handle 4:2:2 10 Bit so I gave up on that mess. You just gave a huge assist on an insane music video I am working on. I'm sure the world will see it soon enough. Thanks mate!

But that is so stupid that I need to cut the video shorter for the transition.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out why the transition wasn't working properly

Thank you so much. I felt really dumb for a second but it makes sense now.

So what do you do if you join the two clips and cross-dissolve but the footage you want is at the beginning of the second clip? If there is no work around this is a really bad software by Davinci? Thanks

Thank you for the video. When you slide that second clip forward on the timeline, does it change where the clip ends on the timeline?

I have to lose part of my footage to make the transition...? It doesn't make any sense...

Nope. I can only extend the transition as far as I have cut both videos. I'm not really sure why DaVinci thought it would be a good idea to make it mandatory for me to lose footage in order to add a transition.

Yah. That is super lame that they do it like that. Even Filmora just does the transition over existing footage. Thank you for the fix!

sorry but this method works randomly and not with all clips...somethimes it just expands them within a neighbor clip.I hope Davince Resolve will bring back this feature when it was possible to select multiple clips and apply transition to all of them. Sad this function is out now

Does this work over 2 video layers also?

Not super intuitive, but it does make sense I guess… Would like it more if you could just drop between two clips and adjust from there (with some sort of default overlap). Thanks for the video!
