So happy I found your channel. I own and operate a workroom in the Tulsa area. This video is one of the best descriptions of window treatments. Thank you for your expertise.

I have been slowly updating my house, and my master bedroom window treatment is my next. Current one is shutter style and old, mulfunctioning on one side. This video is so timely and offered all the advice I needed.
Your videos are so helpful and always make sense. I always learn something. Thank you so much!

Oh my. I love my tall shutters. I did not want them when i bought my house. They were here.
But i have grown to love them. My ceilings are high. Every morning at 7:00am i open them across the front of the house.
I close them at twilight. It is a ritual now.
The back of the house has curtains which i want to replace. That is why i clicked on your video. Thanks for the great tips.

Hello Miriam! This is the first time I watched one of your videos. Thank You SO much for sharing your advice. You have expertise we all need and we appreciate you sharing. I am doing a master bedroom drapery. I feel overwhelmed. I have never purchased drapery before. I am looking at silk, wool and velvet- not sure which one I will go with!

Hello, Miriam! I am now retired as a high-end residential interior designer in the US. In all my years of designing, I very seldom saw interlined window treatments. Mine were most often interlined! I found that it gave the treatment a softer, more lux look. it was also wonderful additional insulation for either the heat of summer or the frigid cold of winter. My window treatments also held up much better as well as hung better from the beginning. I would imagine that interlining would often be used in Canada?

I love, love your channel and your great advice!
I have basic dark brown fabric curtains in my living room. I wish a had money to change the for something that looks lighter and fresher.
My question for you is, is there anything I can do to freshen up my already boring curtains without investing lots of money?
Thanks ❤

You need to zoom in and spend more time and detail on showing specific examples. We don't need to see you as much as we do the items you are discussing.

Should I place two grey velvet sofas across from each other running down the two sides of fireplace and I need two chairs at the end. What color would you chose? The floor is cherry wood.

Thank you for such a through explication of the types and reasons for each layer. My question is do I try to closely match the wall color or just use a neutral shade? I have a solid color sofa, and patterned chairs, and a pair of chairs that are striped that pull all the colors from the patterned chairs. Also, with 10’ ceilings do I go all the way up with the drapes to my crown molding..or just part way between the top of the window & the crown. Your examples are so beautiful & elegant. Thank you for your time, help & expertise with my queries.

My dining room and living room are connected. Should I have the same curtains for both?

I want to update my bedroom and the windows are not so much the issue but rather the sliding glass door. I had curtains before and between the hubby not taking the time to pull them back and the dogs going in and out they were quickly ruined. I was thinking of what I would call shutter door. Look of shutters that are actually sliders themselves. I can't afford to replace the sliders so do you have other suggestions? By the way I recently found your channel and love it!

I would love this video reissued to YouTube's platform without the sound effects and the music. Need to understand drapery but struggling with the competing music. Your voice and tone work best alone.

I have a sliding door panel that is 105" × 105" in a livingroom with 12' ceiling. Should I hang the curtain all the way up? Or just 4~6" above the door frame? I plan to have s-wave style with two layers (sheer + room darkening) or one light filtering, with "kiss" length.

Hello Miriam,
Thank you for sharing this information. I got a question in regards arched windows? We are considering shutters for arched front window but I do hear a lot that they are outdated and that they don’t allow much light to come in. But in this case what are the options?
Thank you!
