"the idea that we can't defeat the Taliban but could defeat the Russians is a quite an objectionable idea" - Samo Burja 💯

Hi Matt and Samo
Since the beginning of the second phase of the Russo-Ukrainian war a few weeks ago, I have been scouring the internet for objective analysis. This is brilliant!
Thank you both!

"this war is not proceeding at the speed of a tweet ... it's proceeding at the speed of a tank" - brilliant!

One harsh truth about the German economy was recently revealed by Martin Brudermuller in an interview with the German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The head of the world's largest chemical corporation BASF said that it is an indisputable fact that "Russian gas is the basis of the global competitiveness of German industry."

I can give a comment on organized crime in Russia. It is true, that it existed in the 90's and it was true until about 2005. Now it is only a remnant of the old days and only in the economic sphere, I mean corruption.

Regarding everyday crime, I came to the U.S. in 2019. I can quite confidently compare the cities with which I am familiar. They are San Francisco (mostly), New York, Chicago and Miami in the United States. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk in Russia. In Russia, you can walk around at any time of the day or night and feel safe. Man or woman. There are a few regions in Russia that will fall out of this rule, but they are economically backward areas with a rural heritage. There is a fair amount of domestic violence (again, mostly in depressed areas. Russian equivalents of Gary, Indiana). As for crime in the U.S., I think readers already know. I hardly ever see people leaving their home in San Francisco after 9 p.m. It's risky, especially closer to the center of cities

My American acquaintances are always surprised when I mention it. But the narrative is very strong. Believe it or not, I don't know of a single instance of me or hundreds of my friends or relatives being robbed in the middle of the street in my 29 years of living in Russia, except those that occurred during the chaos of the 90s

These reasoned conversations are a breath of fresh air amidst the avalanche of propaganda descending from the corporate behemoths.

Russia and China have for over a decade now configured themselves as mutual symbiots - the one cannot thrive without the other so I wouldn't describe R as a 'client state' of C. What they both want, btw, is for Europe to join in a new Eurasian civilization but E cannot do that as long as they keep letting the US and its ruling bankster class dominate them. So there will be a 10-20 year divorce and after that hopefully Europe can break free and the BRI and more can finally integrate the entire 'Central Island.'

Fantastic interview!

Just as Our for-profit health care system (USA) failed(is failing) to handle a pandemic, and lead to a healthy population, our FOR-PROFIT military will fail (is failing) in ALL it's endeavors

There are more interests on this stage apart from Russia and Ukraine. To what extent is the US interest in selling arms, as well as security interests in keeping Europe divided from Russia (to avoid the emergence of a challenger to US hegemony) playing a role in the "memetic" warfare? The more hype Zelensky rouses, the more "AID" packages US Congress can provide to Ukraine thus prolonging the war which both weakens Russia and fills the pockets of the military industrial complex. In theory at least.

Brilliant commentary. Thx. Nowadays parsing news from propaganda is so tedious.

Great conversation. Why do you think that Germany need to decouple from Russia? Is there any possibility that Germany bee the first western state to return to business as usual with Russia once war is over? Because they probably are aware they will lose competitiveness, or even entire industry without Russian resources.

Would like to hear Samo’s thoughts on WEF. The plans for The Great Reset. Build Back Better. Whether societies will win against it.

Another awesome episode! Unfortunately I agree. I think quite apart from lives lost the new division of the world will be a catastrophe, and yet everyone is cheering. Only Branco Milanovic seems to write about it in a not celebratory tone.

Hi and thanks for the great video. I appreciate the honesty and the balanced perspective that you provide.

I've heard you mention this video of a Kiev resident talking about armed groups taking over the city, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can anybody provide a link?
