M2 Max Mac Studio Thermal and Noise Testing: The Best Silent PC!?

How hot and noisy does the M2 Max Mac Studio get under load? Apple Silicon is known for its efficiency, and combined with the great cooling that the Mac Studio can provide, the results were quite surprising.

A quiet or silent computer is my most important consideration so thanks for making this video.

Great video. I’m curious what you room temp was when you are running these tests?

this is great news. I just got my M2 Max Mac Studio for Music Production and I doubt, that I will ever reach a point in my workflow where the fans need to kick in to the 1200rpm range. So it will stay silent. Awesome, thank you for testing.

I have a M2 Max Mac Studio and I really would trade 20 degrees for more power... It's crazy how much room was left...

I'm going to wait for the M3 Studio.

Quite amazing to me the fan speed doesnt ramp up at all when CPU is 100% for over 40 minutes.

I can hear 1300-1500 also whines, thanks for saving me from the nightmare I had to go with M1 studio, will stick with the macbook pro which is completely silent (no fans at all) 99% of time

My M1 Max 16inch Macbook doesn't spin the fan while only CPU under load (around 45~50w, whole machine) . While the GPU kicks in, the whole machine can reach 110w~133w power consumption, and it goes up to 5800rpm with crazy loud noise.

Mi base mac mini m2 is totally silence, I'd never heard it, I'm thinking jump to the the studio but I don't want any sound on my side. I'll wait for the M3.

How many monitors are you driving with this and have you had any connection issues? There's a thread on this in macrumors.

Pretty surprising the fans speeds stay so low compared to to the temps - I've seen M2Pro/Max Macbook Pro stress tests hitting 100C temps on the chips with fans ramping up - and that's where they start to throttle. I guess those chonky heat sinks work!

At my house, the Mac Studio is using CPU and GPU at 80-100%😂

Good video. It would be better to specify the temperature is in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
