As a person from the deep south who mainly fishes saltwater, this video was spot on. Just remember, if you are fishing with a friend in his skiff, try your hand on the poling platform so your friend can fish too. Maybe one out of five people I ever take fishing on my skiff offers to pole or even try. I normally end up being an unpaid guide most of the time. Poling a skiff is not as hard as many think it is, it is hard work, but not hard to do properly after a few minutes up there figuring it out. I don't mind poling for friends, but I like to fish too. I didn't buy and pay for the upkeep of my skiff just to take people fishing for

Love the video, man! Being a guide in Louisiana, I agree!

Good tips Ben, I was out looking for Redfish on Galveston Island on Sunday. No luck so I think I’ll add tip 5 to my game - blam BLAST!

I'm so huge, I'll be using both tip #5's at the same time.

The only saltwater fish I managed to catch on fly was a halibut... What that fish was doing in the shallow surf I cannot say

#6. In skinny water bayous, don’t rock the boat. Redfish have lateral lines too and they will feel the water bounce off the surrounding shoreline and think you r a shark or porpoise and the jig is up. And your tired, cranky guide will yell at you 😮.

I’ve been flyfishing for 5 years, I’ve been out so many times to target snook, reds, tarpan and trout. I see them all the time but I have yet to get one to bite. I most wade on the east coast of Florida. No boat so it’s my only option. Usually o walk up on them and they’re within 15ft of me by the time I see them. As soon as I lift my rod to throw a fly they scatter lol. WHAT DO I DO!?

One more thing, Make sure you cast to the end that they eat with. Although sometimes that doesn't matter either.

I like to make fart noises when I make a bad cast.
Can get fairly noisey in my boat…..

Rule number 5 is gonna be a hard one. I pretty much always fish alone.

Same rules as when hunting females, more or less...

Hot tips I will employ for my next try at Red Fish. They make a lot of sense after my first trip. 🦨
