Utah Elk Hunt...A 22 YEAR WAIT

Casey and Logan join their cousin Trent, who was fortunate enough to draw a limited entry elk tag in the state of Utah. As kids growing up, hunting was more about spending time with our family in the woods than it was about shooting a big bull elk or a big mule deer. This has always been a tradition our families have enjoyed for decades and this hunt reminded us of the old days. With a tag in hand and surrounded by family we embark on a hunt full of nostalgia as Trent is hunting a unit we grew up spending a ton of time in together...forming a family tradition!

We had a Utah LE hunt this year that was almost identical to this. A family elk hunt full of ups and downs. Big bulls were so hard to find this year. I think the winter and wet spring just had so much water and feed that the elk were just so spread out! My sister (the tag holder) had pretty high expectations, but after hunting hard for almost the entire stretch of the hunt, and just not being able to locate any of the bulls we had found while scouting, she ended up harvesting a beautiful 330ish bull with one hell of a hike in and for safety reasons had to spend the night on the mountain at the kill sight. So quite the story to go with it. In the end, it wasn't the 360+ bull we had our sights on, but an amazing week with family and friends made for a successful hunt that my sister was full of smiles and very happy with her experience! I just thought it was pretty amazing how similar this hunt was to hers, and I've heard from multiple hunters with similar experiences this year.

Congratulations on a great hunt and nice bull. The beginning of the video really resonated with me; my uncle who took me hunting mule deer and elk on the Western Slope of Colorado over 40 years ago, the memories just came flooding back to me. He has long since passed and along with his brother who was with me on my first elk kill, an old cow with an old 700 ADL 30-06 with open sights. Thanks for taking me along with you.

Love the family and friends hunting concept. I’ve been hunting eastern Washington now for 42 years with the same group in the same unit. Not always successful but always a great experience. Our group started out with 15 people but due to some passing on and others life gets in the way we are down to just 5 of us now. We have a general spike season every year and I’ve been waiting 16 years to get my any bull tag. Someday I hope I can draw that tag. Great video. Love your channel.
