I use cash to make myself accountable for my purchases since I have a tendency to overspend 😅 I’ve been really looking at my budget recently and trying to find way to make the priority for the things I need my budget to help me with. If you haven’t heard of Dave Ramsey check him out. I followed his debt free plan back in 2004 and by 2006 I was debt free. Then I paid off my house a few years later.

Congratulations on the new house! I know it's a relief to finally be in there and able to really make it your own.

I'm a cashless budgeter. I started cash budgeting during the pandemic. A lot of banks had limited hours and then my area was hit pretty hard by the civil unrest in 2020, so a lot of ATMs were either removed or weren't being serviced, so just getting cash became an ordeal. Not to mention my personal unease with having lots of cash on me. So now I use Qube Money to help keep things organized, except I don't actually use the Qube Money debit card. I have my variable expense budget direct deposited to Qube each paycheck and I divide it amongst the Qubes (just like cash envelopes). I use a credit card to make purchases and at the end of the day, I move the money from the Qube categories I've spent from to a Bill Payments Qube I have set up. Every two weeks, I pay the credit card's current balance with the money from Bill Payments. (I have a similar system with Ally Buckets aka sinking funds.) It took some time, but I've gotten into a rhythm since I started last fall and it's worked well for me. I get to earn cash back with my card, build my credit, and not have to deal with going to the bank.

Yes, I find putting my hands on my money is better for me because swiping that card can be crucial to my finances.

Hey Tina! I heard you said your going to Kroger. I just learned about Kroger boost. You get extra fuel points, free items and other things. It does cost $59.99 for the year. Right now is coupon for $20 off. It is $40 for the year with that coupon. I'm not sure if it is available in your area. It maybe worth looking into. The guy who told me about it said he gets like $1 off per gallon of gas at least one time a month from using the Kroger boost plus other perks. 😊
