The worst of part of living in New Orleans is the slow response of the EMS and police due to the shortage of police. Carjacking is the worst it has been.

I stayed in New Orleans back in 2021. The culture, diversity, atmosphere, and especially the food is all great. That being said, during the 4 days we were there, 14 shooting were reported, and a man got shot inside our hotel

I live here (born & raised) & have a love/hate relationship with it. The city itself & the people here are amazing, surrounding areas not so much🫤. Moved away several times & really missed the food. No one in this country cooks like we do😋it’s to die for❤️ the culture & history here runs deep as does the pride. Come hungry just not in the summer, the heat is unbearable🥵🫠 Laissez les bons temps rouler = “Let the good times roll”…..🎉

I've lived in New Orleans for 10 years and still call this place home. Your list is pretty solid, the only thing that I would take issue with is the racial tension part. Yes there are racial tensions in nola and I'm not going to act like it doesn't exist, but I could also make the argument that comparatively speaking, NOLA is a lot better with this issue than most other cities (especially in the South). New Orleans is a pre dominantly black city, but for the most part the local black community and the local white community along with the other local ethnicities (like the Hispanic and Vietmanese communities) get along pretty well. Note the keyword in that phrase is "local" as when you step outside of nola and get into Louisiana, it is a whole different story. To that point, I would also argue that a lot of the racial tension comes from outsiders and certain tourists from backwoods areas. For example, the whole taking down the confederate monuments fiasco was mostly people coming from outside the city looking to start trouble with the local community. Also while New Orleans is not the best place for hiking and camping it does have some good spots for hiking such as City Park and the Lakefront. Also while our Summers do suck, the rest of the seasons are pretty nice here and it rarely gets cold here. But yeah crime and hurricanes are very real here, but to me the pros outweigh the cons and I love this city. Solid list though and I love your videos!

Political corruption in New Orleans is pretty high.

I am from Texas but my ancestral roots are Creole from Louisiana. I absolutely LOVE Nola!! Even named my cat Miss Nola lol I try to visit every chance I get. My sister lived there as a travel nurse for several months and she fell in love with it too. As soon as my feet touch ground in Nola, I feel "at home". ♥

New Orleans was built on a swamp that was drained. Overtime the soil subsided and the city sunk into a bowl, making it vulnerable to flooding.

“Racial tensions” weird how I’m from here and have no idea what you’re on about…. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I lived in the French Quarter for 4 years in the 80’s and had two different apartments broken into while I was at work. People at work talked about “their” home robberies like it was just normal conversation. Got out of there after the four years. It’s a dark dangerous place.

Everyone always forgets the Italian influence. The Italian mafia got its start in America, in New Orleans. It was the main port for Italian immigration before New York opened up. You can find some of the best Italian food in N.O.

I'm a native southerner and I've traveled all over the world, NOLA is one of the most gorgeous, passionate, historical, creative cities I've ever seen. The only legitimate issues on your list are crime and natural disasters. That's why I don't live there myself. NOLA is best for wealthy, artistic, cultured, foodies who appreciate diversity and hot weather.

'no outdoor activity.. there is some fishing...' - The cuisine is all about fishing and there is a large lake and bay within an hour away to do the outdoor activity of water sports...

I’m from New Orleans, born and raised. What isn’t true is the “racial tension” part and like I see many others have said as well There is no racial tension in New Orleans, all groups get along, socialize and hangout together, and there’s a large amount of mixed groups of friends out here. That cab driver was very misleading to you.

From Beirut Lebanon: I blow wishes for peace and love to the city of new Orleans and it's citizens. Hope your city would be blessed with better days and totally recover from Katrina floodings. Wish the media would leave New Orleans alone

Anyone who is limited to the quarter has no idea what NoLa is all about, especially during Mardi Gras….it’s cool in the quarter to be sure just so much more to be found elsewhere.

You didn’t mention insurance! Property insurance companies are pulling out left and right leaving many home owners with some terrible options. It’s getting harder to afford the premiums each year.

Jobs are scarce and hard to find in New Orleans. Very competitive and not good quality. But I do not know about what it is like in the hospitality industry. I feel lucky that I am retired. ❤ I have not encountered any racial tension. Most everyone tries to get along with the other.
