The Battle of Auberoche was fought on 21 October 1345 during the Gascon campaign of 1345 between an Anglo-Gascon force of 1,200 men under Henry, Earl of Derby, and a French army of 7,000 commanded by Louis of Poitiers. It was fought at the village of Auberoche near Périgueux in northern Aquitaine. At the time, Gascony was a territory of the English Crown and the "English" army included a large proportion of native Gascons. The battle resulted in a heavy defeat for the French, who suffered very high casualties, with their leaders killed or captured.

Great that you covered a lesser known battle. Didn’t know about this one

my ancestor through the male line, sir John ll de Lynyen served in this battle and the campaign, and even served until the army of lancaster returned home. he was also a felon (his wife supposedly did something illegal and he housed her apparently not knowing), and he would’ve been in prison and lost all his land, but henry grosmont himself personally testified in court of John’s good service in gascony that henry witnessed, and John was given a royal pardon with his house and allowed to return free man

Never heard of this battle, which looks like a text book campaign. Perfidious Albion at it again.

I don't know if you're aware that at one point you say that ‘Pemboke should immediately come to the aid of the French’ when you meant aid if the English. Sorry to be ‘that’ annoying guy who points out mistakes.
