I love these videos. Not only do they help with not buying, they also are just so charmingly creative.

I love it when you break down the color story of palletes. When one or two shades catch our attention I think we tend to look at the whole color story with the same excitement without even realizing that it's the enchantment of those one or two shadows that's calling for us. It hypnotizes us into buying a whole beautiful pallete that we're gonna end up not using at all.

Duping the vibes works wonders for palettes because we usually have a fat stash of our favorite colours (and - more often than not - that's exactly what attracts us to a new release).

I have this palette and usually don't buy ND palettes, but I will say that all of the "pale" looking mattes in the palette are definitely not pale when put on the eyes. I'm not sure how it happens but they all come off as wayy deeper and more saturated and can be built up quite intensely (with the exception of Unity). So they look pale but they are really way more mid-toned and deep than you'd think at first glance. Personally I love that they are.

I love love love my dream pallet! I’m so glad I bought it! I’ve been using it every single day! 💜💜💜💜there is a lot of every day colors! Plus the black in there and all the shimmers! Oh and the purple plums are exceptional! No regrets well worth the money IMO🎉❤

yes, another dupe the vibe! one of my favorite kinds of videos from you alongside insanely thorough reviews XD. I just have to say I bought the elf big mood mascara on your recommendation, and it's absolutely fantastic! blows my old buxom mascara out of the water. hope you're doing well!

I can't even word how much I needed your sanity and your mad skills at ambience and vibe duping. Thank you!

This is one of the first palette that had me really considering buying a ND (from her more affordable line). For me it looks like one of her better pallets in terms of variety and especially depth. A lot of her palettes are in a mid-tone range where I'd constantly need a different palette to deepen it up for my skin tone. But, here it is, I couldn't figure out what about this palette speaks to me until I scrolled on IG and found a post with it next to a Pat Mcgrath palette (can't remember which one) - and it was the same exact vibe. My Dream is like the more affordable and a little muted, dirty version of the PM palette...and that's why I like it. And now it's like my desire to have it immediately is gone. I still like it, but I don't need to have it.

Thank you for doing this series. It helps me to break down why I may want to buy a palette, or any makeup, for that matter. I now ask myself, "Why do I want this?", and "Do I already have this?" This ND palette I can dupe 20 times in my collection and it is a big "pass" for me. Not saying that I don't think it is a lovely palette, it's just something I already have. ON that thought.. have you considered the new Danessa Myricks palette? I rarely buy new palettes these days and was going to pass on this one, especially when I saw the price tag. That was until I saw her promo video and the demonstration of the aqua chromes. These intrigued me and I gave in to temptation. I have to tell you that I regret nothing. I have nothing else like this palette. The painter in me absolutely loves the aqua chromes. There is a learning curve to using them, but I suppose that is part of the fun. I love when makeup challenges and surprises me. I found that if I used a wax base, they applied amazingly and its literally like painting with a dancing, sparkling paint. I hope she comes out with other colors because I will buy them all! The rest of the palette is stunning, as well. The multi/dual chromes rival some of the best indy brands I have in my arsenal. I even like the chrome flakes. Again, I used these on a wax base and they are friggin good! The price is not in everyone's budget, but if you have the budget, I highly recommend.

Honestly the look you came up with is much more impactful than what you would get with the actual palette. Those PML & Clionadh shadows are just better IMO and I own this palette! I like ND's mattes & cream-to-powders but the shimmers and metallics is where she loses me.

The new Danessa Myricks lightwork 4 is such a temptation, but so expensive. Working on exploring other options in my collection, but still definitely still droolworthy.

I love this color story. I still haven't duped the vibes yet, but this almost brown eggplant purple is one of my favorite colors and I have it so many times in my collection. I just realized the multi-chrome in the Lethal Berlin 89 palette is kind of a weak sauce version of Kiln (one of those Clionadh shadows that's been on my wishlist for ages, and every time I buy from them, it is sold out.). I do want that ESUM purple liner though. I'd love to see a review of those, btw. As usual this video was super inspirational for me. Your style of doing eyeshadow, darkest to lightest is slowly eclipsing the classic Jaclyn Hill, gradient of matte rainbows in the crease that I used to always do. I think today's eyeshadows are more dynamic and interesting and can stand on their own more than in the old days, where you really had to layer to get impact.

If you take a mirror and hold it beside the multichrome swatch, it translates better on-camera. It allows the camera to pick up the shift. You probably already know this🤘🏽.

A seemingly-decently good dupe for that My Dream multichrome could also be "Breakthrough" from Lethal Cosmetics' Berlin'89 pallette. I love that pallette SO MUCH!!
B89 also has a far more intriguing lighter-mid-tone concrete grey (Prefab) that could be mixed with the mid-tone neutral brown (THF) to create something similar, yet deeper, to the taupe in the MD pallette. Like ND:MD, Berlin'89 has a pigmented, deep, matte black (East and West). It's also got a great, shimmery, shifty silver (Transit), a not-super-orangey shimmery gold (Reunion), and this wicked-grungy matte Dijon yellow (Republic).

While I'm taking about that pallette, there are some great bright mattes in it, but almost all of them have this slightly dirty, muted quality to them. It's like, a nod to the rainbow pallettes that were saturating the market, but with a more heavy, sombre mood to them. The Anti-Lisa Frank rainbow shades. Even the brighter, less-sooty of the colourful mattes can be excellently corrupted by using Prefab, THF, or East and West. The aforementioned colourful mattes come in mid-deep blue(Zone), red (Bloc), a slightly dirty brick roarnge (Sputnik), and orange(Berlin, which is a brighter, more true orange). There is a more bright, magenta-leaning, matte purple(Checkpoint) in there, but it's the same shade found in one of the shifts in Breakthrough, so it works. I think that's the thinking behind the brighter of the two colourful mattes, Bloc, Berlin, and Checkpoint: to highlight different points of the flips in Breakthrough.

Actually, Lethal pretty much seemingly added a matte for each colour represented in the multi, besides the chartreuse, but you could probably mix some shades and get something close, or use a different shade from another pallette...so that's rad.

The brighter shades, most of B89, actually, are obviously very different from ND:MD. I feel it's all totally worth mentioning, though! Plus I got on a roll, and had to break down the ENTIRE PALLETTE once I began writing about it.

I don't think you can get the shades from that pallette as singles from Lethal (yet?) but it's a rad pallette for sure! BTW, I don't work for, or with, LC. I'm just a fan.

The only ND pallettes I own are a few of the little 5 pan ones, all purchased from Boxycharm's shopping area, or in monthly boxes. I know. I was an idiot, and got sucked into the garbage beauty box thing during Lockdown. It brought me more rage than joy, but my collection is fairly respectable, now. I digress, again.

Thinking I'd resell them, I haven't even swatched any of the mini ND pallettes, except for one that I just recently popped the cherry on. It has Aubergine, gold, and a foiled taupe in it. Can't remember the name offhand. It's probably one of those 5 pans specifically made for Boxycharm, like Jubilee, or that warm neutral brown one. Both are virginal, same with the "Cranberry" and "Anaya"(?) ones I have. Someday I might break down and get a full pallette, but it would really need to speak to me.

I'm finding that if I buy brand new shadow pallettes, I have a harder time using something right away, than if I get a gently used/sanitized one from Poshmark. Then, I'm like, "Welp, can't sell or gift THIS, might as well actually use it!"

It's a mix of anxiety, rampant consumerism, hoarding behaviour, the possibility of selling something, the old "I don't want to use it before I'm "ready" because I have so much on the go rn, that it'll probably expire!", and "what if I want to give this as a Christmas/birthday gift? Better not touch it until I decide!" It's weird. I'm now far more thoughtful about my beauty purchases. More indie/high-end/single shades, less fast fashion beauty FOMO.
Okay: enough blathering! Jeez!

Keep up the good work/vids, Hannah! These duping vids esp.are so creatively stimulating. Hoping you're beginning to feel better btw.
Here's a thought...what would you choose if you had to make your own 15 pan dream palette?

I love how you used Kiln! I don’t have that one from Clionah but I do have other ones that are black base and I find them hard to use.

I’m definitely going to try buffing them out to my crease but keeping it relatively low and using another color to buff on the edge.

If I was at home I’d do that on the spot! Thank you for the inspiration!!

before i even start watching i just want to put it out that i am really grateful for this duping video i first saw this palette on lauren mae beauty channel i was drawn to it but i quickly realized that i was only drawn to the plumy shades and not in a 100 years am I going to buy an expensive palette just for few shades

Edit: Also i am not a neutrals fan, so there is just no point in buying a palette which is mostly neutral shades(at least for me they are neutral) plus a quick tip which i learned from Kelly Gooch to cover up the pop of color or in this case i just covered up the colors which i know i am most drawn to, and figure out if you still like the palette as much without those pops or no, this trick has made my life so much easier

Hannah shows a picture of the palette. Me- wow someone has boring dreams. Hannah shows a close up. Me- ok vision looks fun. Clearly this eye palette is not for me, but I love duping videos

These are the best videos! Such a great dissection of a palette, while revisiting things you are likely overlooking. I also love when you build your smaller versions. Dismantling existing palettes and rebuilding customized palettes is such a great way to put it all back together in a satisfying and useful way. Thanks Hannah!!

Between yours and Kackie’s breakdowns, I have ultimately changed my mind on this palette and I’m totally happy about it. Despite this palette seemingly being a bit more up my alley, I have plenty in my collection that could “dupe the vibes” for the rare occasion I do such eggplant-y and magenta-y looks. I just sanitized 8 palettes for my young cousin and I still have everything I could want amongst what I own. Love it.
