Steve Scalise withdraws from House speaker race

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said Thursday he is withdrawing from the race for speaker. Republicans narrowly voted to nominate him in a closed-door vote Wednesday. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more.

The GOP clown car never fails. It’s a hilarious soap opera. The GOPs scriptwriters keep adding new storylines and twists in the plot. The debacle over McCarthy and the speaker fiasco is real edge of the seat stuff, can’t wait to see what they will do next. Governing or passing legislation is definitely not going to happen under these clowns but may hey will go ahead a split into two parties. They are already two parties the ‘fanatics’ and the ‘herd’.

A part of me wants to celebrate, as Scalise lacks the integrity and competence to be Speaker. However, the GOP has very few members who are pro-democracy and non-divisionary so I am fearful they might now select someone like Jordan which means even greater division and chaos in the House.
