always play the cancer card when you have cancer. Theres no point to cancer if you cant activate that trap card

I love that Hank points out the ridiculousness of the man’s thought process by saying ‘out loud, with his own mouth’ in that tone. Like, it’s the tone we’d all use, right?

I get those looks and statements going into the hospital cancer center. I treat them like an idiot, "I'm going into the cancer center, why do you think I'm wearing a mask? Perhaps because many of the patients in there don't have immune systems?"

I'm pregnant, suffering from HG, and often need additional IV fluids. My obgyn does not like me being treated by the ER, so I have standing orders at the infusion clinic. I've been 100% compliant with masking, and taking PCRs to avoid spreading any potential covid to any of the cancer patients there. Even if I'm symptomatic and have a negative PCR, they get me a private room (I still keep my N95 mask on the ENTIRE time), for which I'm grateful for. Almost everyone there is there for cancer chemo treatment. I would feel eternal guilt if my contagious illness killed someone.

Whenever someone tells me I don't have to wear a mask, I lie and say I have tuberculosis, and that I'm wearing the mask for THEIR safety. They ALWAYS look horrified and take several steps back. Im so fcking sick of anti-maskers telling me what to do.

“A sporting goods store that f***ed a Chuck E Cheese” is not the sentence I was expecting to hear first in this clip 😂

btw the punchline to the bit was that he simply took his hat off to reveal his bald head and the guy got very embarrassed

"Why you wearin' that?"
"Why you fuckin' talkin' to me?"

I wore a mask all through my mums cancer. I lived with her and was her carer as things got worse. I think I only got asked twice why I was wearing one, one was genuine curiosity from someone I would see a lot in a store I went into. The other one was pure animosity. Like he was ready to argue with me about conspiracies and vaccines. Nothing shuts a dickhead up like ‘because I care for someone with cancer’.

Not only would I be throwing out 'I have cancer' at the drop of a hat, I'd be following up with 'is that ok with you?' after two seconds.

Yeah I imagine the I have cancer card shuts down this likely annoying conversation very fast

Back in december I was doing some Christmas shopping while wearing a mask, and had a guy confront me about it and start following me around the store, basically calling me crazy, saying COVID is "over" and it was just a flu anyways, blah blah blah, and eventually I got fed up and told him the truth, that my mom had breast cancer and I'd rather it not be her last Christmas because someone coughed on me. Never seen someone's jaw slam shut so fast

I love the cancer card. My mom told me to borrow hers anytime I got harassed about masks and boy is it fun to watch peoples faces when you go "well.. my mom has cancer and I worry about her. I wouldnt be able to forgive myself if I brought something home and.. and.. it got bad"

I can completely relate. I was in chemo for Crohn's Disease (yes, they do that. Yes, it helps numerous autoimmune disorders) when BOTH Covid lockdowns hit in my area and we had mask mandates on the 1st go 'round, but they were much more relaxed (& politicized) on the 2nd. I have NEVER had so many complete strangers spew the absolute vilest hatefulness at me (as well as an assortment of blunt objects) as I did then. I started carrying a T shirt I had made that said "I'm doing chemotherapy. The mask IS necessary regardless of Covid" on the front AND back that I'd toss on over my regular shit whenever I had to go anywhere in public. I still got irrational hatred, but the people that paid attention to the shirt generally allowed for an intelligent conversation, although even then I was told that"masks don't do anything to prevent germ spread." I'm **baffled** at the amount of people that 1) are clueless about chemo, how it works & that it's NOT just for cancers, and 2) the number of people that automatically assumed my political allegiance and went out of their way to make me and anyone with me absolutely miserable, some openly committing felonies bc they assumed that I was a leftist extremist hell-bent on making their lives harder for longer and was specifically targeting THEM. I truly hope Hank didn't suffer the lunacy that many of the rest of us in treatment did. It was more than scary, even for a confident and capable woman with a strong sense of self identity like myself.

Lol, I don't have cancer, and I still wear a mask when I take public transportation or go into crowded stores. My kids lost their dad to a heart attack almost 3 years ago, and I'm doing everything I can to make sure they don't lose me. These antimaskers can <insert a s tring of expletives that would have gotten me grounded for a year when I was a kid, lol>

i got asked by someone applying for a job at my work why i was wearing a mask (i just never really stopped) and the guy said "i just feel like you're pretty underneath it so i don't get why you're wearing it" note that i have never met this person before and they haven't seen my face

Outside of America it's common for people to wear masks. It's usually for the person wearing the mask not getting other people sick.

Okay, absolutely yes! As a person who never stopped masking and then had cancer, it makes those conversations so much easier!!!
It's like an Uno reverse card 😂

Yeah, when I had cancer I didn’t lose my hair but I wanted it short anyway (life my profile pic) and kids in school would make the most horrendous comments. The looks on their faces when I just said “it’s cancer” with no context we’re priceless. If I can get one thing out of this disease, I’ll at least express myself how I want to.

I'm an oncology nurse. I wear a mask ALWAYS. Then I never need to worry about the other person's immune status. I had a patient's family member ask me why I was wearing a mask, so I explained that about half of our patients are immunocompromised. He didn't understand what that meant, so I had to explain it. Ugh.
