SMC has made many sewage treatment plants, but the most innovative and unique 1 MLD sewage treatment plant with BIological Nutrients Removal process has been made in the Katargam Lake area by En-vision Environmental Services. The whole project - design, erection, construction, commissioning, and operating it for ten years has been awarded to Envision Environmental services. Major components in the A²O process-based STP include Anaerobic tank, Anoxic tank, Aeration tank, Tube settling tank, Sludge Dewatering Systems, Intermediate tank, Pressure Sand Filter, Activated Carbon Filter, Treated water tank, and Ozonation which helps to treat the sewage water properly. The treated water is used in the same area, i.e., Katargam, for plantation and gardening purposes. Thus, 100% of the water gets recycled and reused. SMC has made tremendous efforts to promote the use of recycled water for gardening purposes.
