Another learning day. Good job. At least you can tell others the results and thanks for sharing the results so others can see. Have a good day

Hi Phil! Yep, stick with pelletized lime so that it gets to the ground and not in your lungs and all over your tractor. Thanks for sharing!

Hello,
How accurate would you say this is spreading alfalfa and/or oats onto a prepped field? The one I'm considering is similar to yours but not sure if my 75hp tractor is too much hp for and how the unit would act when hitting bumps or mounds.. Thanks!

Just found this channel from your other channel so here I am. I used to have one of those when I had a pecan orchard to spread granular fertilizer. I was wondering how much actually went where you wanted it. Take care and have a blessed day.

Interesting video. I've thought of getting one of those funnel spreaders, but never bit the bullet.

When I saw the broomsedge in the background, I thought... Yep, I'm in the same boat and lime is the answer! I'm going to give the pulverized a shot on a dead-still summer morning because I was comparing it with the pelletized available locally. The pulverized has a 25% higher amount of calcium carbonate, and 20% more volume per unit at the same price. For me, I think the drift and mess might be worth it? Or it could be a different story at the end of a day's worth of living in a lime cloud. 😄 Either way, I appreciate you sharing your experience. Cheers!

You answered my question on rate of application before I got to ask. Maybe keeping the spreader / 3point hitch at a lower height would help.

I did it with a spreader on the back of an atv a few years ago. The dust mixed with the sweat on my back and I got actual burns not to mention my eyes were toast but it did work lol.

It will be interesting to see if the spreader was full

We actually use a liquid lime called super lime plus and have had great results.

I just picked up a used Cosmo 500. You just saved me a lot of time trying to solve my spreader to quick hitch problem and stopped me from potentially making the same powdered lime mistake. Just don't do it. Thanks!

Ag is a little bit heavier and has more moisture

Mix the lime with sand and then spread it.

Yep that’s too dusty. I have a pull type auger spreader that works good with powdered or AG lime. I’ve also hired trucks to spread AG lime. If you want to do a big area might check on that. Last I got was $600 for 18 tons hauled and spread.

Best time to spread is with a light drizzle, helps get fert into the ground

Granule lime will work better but like ya said cost more

I just use the co-op spreader pull behind a tractor.
