My name is Clarissa Guillen, I'm a first-generation, low-income college graduate who once lost all of her academic scholarships, failed out of a bio major, got told to her face she wasn't smart enough to get into medical school, and eventually helped myself graduate with honors from a rigorous nursing program while working full time.

This is the story of how I went from failing 7 classes to graduating with honors in College.

✏️How to work with me: As you know I am CEO of an Academic Life Coaching Company and I have (2) ways in which I work with students.

✔️Educated. The Art of Becoming A Good Student: This is a group coaching program that I created to teach you how to build a study routine, how to manage your time, how to read and write your notes, how to write papers fast, how to set up your weekly schedule. I give you all the templates, guides, and worksheets so that it's an easy step-by-step repeatable process. And the entire Mastering Your Mindset As A College Student Vault. This vault will teach you how to create motivation and persistence to achieve your goals even when you don’t feel like it, you're overwhelmed/stressed and shit is hitting the fan.

✔️The Your Best Semester Yet Coaching Experience (I have only two 1:1 spots currently open for this level of work with me):

This 1:1 coaching container is all about mastering the art of showing up for yourself consistently, no matter what. Your Best Semester Yet goes beyond just hitting a specific academic goal or creating a study routine. Your Best Semester Yet is about helping you heal your past self and rebuild your self-trust and confidence from the ground up. Every week the focus is just on you for 45 minutes. Every week we get to work on you becoming the best version of yourself. Every week we work on you thriving in your everyday life alongside college. Every week you get to know yourself better and better and I help you fall in love with who you are becoming. It's absolutely magical. And we do all of this with just your mind. It is incredible. You automatically get Educated when you work with me 1:1.

If you're interested in 1:1 coaching with me or want to join my group coaching program Educated but you have questions, concerns or hesitations - I've opened up my calendar for consult calls (where we figure out what's still missing and you can ask all your questions around if working with me makes sense).

I just failed a class, and I very much needed this video. I’m still heartbroken about it because it’s my first year and I feel like I failed my parents because I’m the oldest of my siblings so I feel I have to be a role model for them. I’m so disappointed in my self.

Truly a video I needed to see at this time. No one truly knows what is going in someone’s life to make them fail in school. Literally, no one fails because they just want to. Thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom ❤

Venting and my own story Below:
I'm actually in community college. Low income, first gen. Back in high school and middle school top of my class but college is just a beast. I took summer courses for a headstart and aced them with flying colors but as of the Fall Semester of 2022, I'm failing my major in computer science. It's really broken me and I'm especially scared of telling my mom. I'm slowly coming to terms (as a perfectionist), that it's ok and it's the cards that I'm dealing with. Just to not give up on my degree and try not to believe it's the end of the world. I'm not dumb or anything, I just need the right space, people, and mentality. This video pretty much proves it, and dang I'm sorry that the academic counselor said that. It sounds so unprofessional to just shoot those dreams down like that and not recommend anything, but I'm glad you stood your ground and found something you enjoy!

I was overwhelmed with the amount of work I put myself through. Starting a new job, transferring from a different university and starting without any help just relying on faith. I did most of my work on a desktop and it was so hard. I didn’t have the capacity.

I’m pushing through. Thank you for this video.

In my third year and this is what I am experiencing right now. I was always a straight-A student but in my junior year I was having an academic flop era and I just wanted to change my major from engineering to psych because it had reached a point that its affecting my relationship with myself. This is why I am even here scrolling for ways to help me. Thanks for the video I saw myself in your story and I am willing to graduate with this engineering degree.

Based on the comments and your video, I can see that I am not alone in this world. We all have similar feelings and It is motivational to keep up in a world of inequality. I did not have a good education in high school, and I got a scholarship in a rich people university in Brazil and I just feel so out of place. I compare myself to people who have different backstories and higher income and parental supporting, I just feel so unmotivated by seeing teachers that came from the same reality of those rich people telling me that I should switch my graduation course. Computer Science is definitely not an easy patch to go through but I am not going to give up even though I may fail at some classes. Thank you for sharing your story with us, and I am happy that you are okay now. I cannot wait to feel the same!

Thank you for the video I needed this. I'm an international student that is studying in a new language that I didn't know much before coming to university and now I'm failing my first semester in computer science because I didn't understand what they were teaching. I was like you in high school one of the best in the class and when I went to uni in Slovenia I saw that soo many people were better than me, that they were thriving, but I struggled with the easiest topic, now I sit in my room thinking I could've done better if I studied more. Thank you for your wisdom and I wish you the best of luck.

This is excellent! I decided to go back to college to finish my degree and even after being accepted back into the program I was confident. I came here to this video and was overwhelming encouraged because i have a very similar story. I have a trauma history leadning to a 1.9 gpa in high school and a 2.0 in college. But i remembered at one point i was on The honor roll and that version of me still exists. I just finished my first semester back in school with a 3.7 term GPA and i made the deans list. Thank you foe all your doing for these women you arw making an impact. Thank you so much for this video it has played a huge roll in building my confidence and inspiring me to be a straight A student! ❤ You can always begin again and this time were going to finish!

Thank you for this! I’m going through the same thing now. This is my last semester and it’s going to be the most difficult by far. Advisors can be tough, mine has honestly said things that made me completely question all my goals (at times even change them). I also worked full time most of school because I needed the money but I have cut my hours in order to succeed in this semester.

Thank you. I know I’ll have a story similar to this. I found this video because I’ve been grasping at air for some support from the people around me. I don’t think anyone truly believes in me except for me, and maybe with good reason. So it’s on me, and you’ve helped me feel empowered to take control of my own situation.

Thank you soooo much for sharing, we should all help one another from our past failures, I needed this. I have been failing most classes almost every semester, I took time off for Spring 2023 classes to work on me to becoming a better student.

Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. It's my first semester and it's been so stressful. I accepted that I'm going to change majors because i found my purpose and what satisfies me but it's still difficult to see everyone succeeding. I sometimes feel like there's something wrong with me. I'm just trying my best. Thank you for your words. It's warms my heart to know that I'm not the only one and that there's someone who was able to overcome it ❤

Thank you for this, I started off my college career very rough. Even my advisors made me feel discouraged. Been going really hard and doing really well recently and been wondering if it’s too late for me, but this gives me a lot of hope for the future of my education
