I love how this represents in the lore of the show. That the only living samurai that Jack has met is nothing but a blowhard who is showboating around, gives the look inside that jack is truly the only samurai left.

The key here was that Jack gave him the chance to see if he deserved the title samurai. Then when he realized he was a fake he didn't show him dishonor but instead a chance to learn to become a samurai.

I have to give him credit, the false samurai does display at least SOME level of skill. Granted, he's no true warrior, and absolutely NOWHERE near Jack's level, but he still has experience with certain tactics that can be noticed if you pay close enough attention, like using the bamboo stick to propel himself upwards for a faster, stronger downward strike.
