In todays video, we shall discuss what symmetric and skew-symmetric matrices are, and also their properties.

1. A square matrix A is said to be symmetric if the transpose of A is equal to A.

2. A square matrix B is said to be skew-symmetric is the transpose of B is equal to -B. Notice that a skew symmetric matrix has its diagonal elements to be zero.
